Having similar thoughts! Actually found myself researching "the competition" today. Looks to be much classier, and I like the idea of the engine being dual-ported, but that $42k price tag is a pretty big jump. Also, the idea of driving around in something that looks like a giant sports shoe is somewhat off-putting.
The Santa Cruz is having much worse issues from reading their forums.
Dash lights flashing randomnly
Misaligned body panels
Transmission failure (This was expected, they are using the same system type of system as Santa Fe which shreds the splines.)
I've read more, but would take a bit for me go back to see what they were.

A TSB was issued by ford because of it. It wasn't one person.
The overfilled transmission issue was for one day of maverick production.

Geez, bum radio, another guy has a leaking tranny at 1,000 miles, others have hood flap, lot of doors rattling.

Do I really want a Maverick?
What do you mean “doors rattling”? Did I miss this one? Or are you referring to the door PANELS rattling?

I think if you go to any forum about vehicles, regardless of the brand you will read about problems.

Ford is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

SSM 50297 - 2022 Maverick - Radio Intermittently Does Not Change Stations
Some 2022 Maverick vehicles may exhibit a radio intermittently not changing stations when using buttons on the console and/or the turning tuner knob. If the radio/audio resets after shutting the vehicle off and opening and closing the door, inform the customer that Ford is working on a solution which is expected to be available by December 2021. Advise the customer that the vehicle is safe to drive and schedule a follow-up appointment for January.
Hopefully this is resolved by the time my October 30 ordered hybrid shows up in August or September lol

I noticed when I first got my Mav, the manual radio controls worked as they should. But after connecting my phone using BT or USB cable, whether syncing to the phone or using Android auto to play music with Pandora, Spotify, or YouTube, the radio no longer responded to the manual controls, even after disconnecting the phone.

However, a couple of days later the manual radio controls suddenly started working normally again. Maybe the radio reset itself.

The next day, after connecting my phone again via USB to use Google Maps and Waze, after disconnecting, the manual radio controls had stopped working again. I'm thinking that after you override the manual radio mode with your phone, there must be a way to revert back to manual mode after disconnecting the phone. It doesn't do it automatically.

It's no excuse for the radio not to work, but personally, I will only be using Google play music Spotify etc. Hope you get it figured out, but there are some good alternatives if you have Android or an iPhone

Try holding down the power button and the next seek button for ten seconds. It does a hard reset I've had to do it to mine about 10 times already... even have had the steering wheel controls stop working a few times. Of the screen just go black. Definitely a software issue they need to fix!

I couldn’t do anything radio related with the buttons on my steering wheel I’m my 2012 F150. It would screw everything up. Nice to see they have gotten that sorted….
Yes on the Maverick they transferred the bum buttons on the steering wheel issue to the bum knobs on the radio.

Where did you find this? I tried to Google "SSM 50297 - 2022 Maverick" and am finding nothing. I have also contacted the local dealer, called Ford Corporate, messaged Ford Motor Company on Facebook, and none of them are aware or even able to find anything on the issue. I sent them tons of links to forums like this and they thank me but nothing has happened.
