Hi Everyone,

Im new to the forum and a 1st time owner with Ford! I picked up my 2023 Hybrid last week and loving it so much! This will be our family car and I have 2 kids. Has anyone heard of any issues with break-ins with Mavericks or stolen Mavericks since its a pretty hot car in the United States and Canada. Today, I decided to order on Amazon a few items. I got a RFID Key Fob Protector, RF Signal Blocking Case-Protection for Car Key Fob. Also, I ordered a steering wheel lock anti-theft called "Stoplock".

Im originally from Toronto, Ontario-Canada area and now living in Ottawa. Just alone in the Toronto and surrounding area, there has been 27,000 stolen cars in 2023. Canada has now been known to be a donor country for stolen cars. The cars get stolen and the thief's take the cars to Montreal port and ship it overseas (Africa, Dubai, etc).

Just curious, if anybody doing any additional protection on their Mavericks? If so, any additional tips for the rest of us? Thanks!

-Ric
If you are in Canada, can't you just ask nicely to "please do not break in to my truck?" I mean Canadian are so nice, except when on a hockey rink, I am sure that would work. LOL

I really don’t think this truck is as hot as everyone boasts, honestly. We hear a lot of stuff about mavericks on this forum; how great it it is and everyone wants one but I have only had like 4-5 people even comment to me about my truck. Most people don’t seem to care and I have had a dozen people ask me what kind of truck it is because they had never heard of it. I would be less worried about this truck getting stolen over several other cars out there. Nothing wrong with protecting your investment, of course, but I wouldn’t overly worry about it. Congrats on your new truck. šŸ‘

takes about a minute

Would setting the parking brake stop this type of theft, or at least, make i more complicated? On the Maverick hybrid, the brake is electronic and sounds like it locks the rear wheels.

Ford offers a Perimeter Plus alarm package. It can be installed aftermarket.
Some vehicles, likely not the Maverick already have it installed at the factory and can be enabled using Forscan.

https://accessories.ford.com/ford-perimeter-plus-vehicle-security-system-11

In my limited researching it, it appears to make use of the motion sensor in the vehicle among other sensors.

My anti theft device is a 6 speed manual transmission and I popped off the gear map. The manual makes it so 99% of people under 35 can’t drive it, and removing the map confuses the other 1% so they can’t back out of the spot.
You could also write any information/instructions in cursive, that would guarantee that anyone under 30 couldn’t read it…

lol very true! I might be the exception since I have lived 6 years in Detroit and 5 years in Brooklyn, NY. I already lost my Canadian manners and have a lot of American traits in me! Just kidding! lol

Thanks, really enjoying the ride and also saving $$ on gas!! That is true and most people dont care about it but it is making a splash for a whole new market of consumers. For myself, I also have a Subaru Outback and I was always looking for something that I can toss the bikes in the trunk easily rather than use the bike rack, throw in some fishing and camping gear, etc. For our family, the Mav fits that bill with the right size and usefulness with the trunk-besides its great utilitarian use.

I got my Mav tinted few days ago and the installer was impressed with the car and going nuts over it. lol Hes heard about the Maverick through the grapevine, news, social media, etc. I've been driving this truck for the past week and people constantly asking me questions at the parking lot stores, etc.

Ain't no one trying to steal your Maverick lol. This truck is practically invisible to anyone not on this forum.
You're more likely to get stuff stolen FROM your Maverick. Keep your doors locked, and enjoy your truck.

Do you think it is hard? Probably would take the same amount of time as it takes you to unlock it with your key and start it? The real question is do they even need to? A couple of car rollers and a flat bed and it’s gone in 60 seconds.
So you can open the door and simply move the shifter into neutral? Lifting the front wheels and putting it on rollers in 60 seconds? Maybe.

What if the parking brake is on? I guess it would then take 120 seconds. Thanks for your reply.

While I wouldn't waste my time on a Maverick, many owners of high-value vehicles (especially Hellcat powered Mopars and TRXs as they are so easy to crack) have a Ravelco device installed.

Mine was installed in ~an hour, the vehicle cannot be started w/o the cap installed.

https://www.ravelco.com/index.html

IMO, way overkill for a Maverick.

Someone tried to steal my stick shift '93 Ford Festiva. Sometimes when opportunity knocks...
I left it in a parking lot because I blew a fusible link and didnt know it at the time. They tried to hotwire it, got nowhere because they had the same trouble I did and couldn't get it started. šŸ˜‚

Hi Everyone,

This might make you sick to watch but consider where you house your car. It's a Canadian CBC news station

In Calif, my neighbor owns a muffler shop and 90% of their business is replacing stolen catalytic converters. Here, you need "certified" replacements approved by the state, no after market ones which easily is 2x to 5x the after market price, depending on age and vehicle.
