Priority question I've not seen answered, can someone answer... ?

If two Identical Mavericks are both ordered at the same dealer, one July 23 with a priority of 19. The second is ordered 2 months latter in Sept 23 but has a (Better) priority number 1 thru 10. Which truck gets built first, July or Sept ...?

Ford uses some algorithms to decide what types of trucks they will build in a given run (for example Lariats / hybrids, etc)

They see which dealers have allocations for those builds.

Then, only after it has been decided that a specific dealer is going to get a truck *then* the matching truck from that dealer having the lowest priority is selected first regardless of when the order was placed.

Priority code. Orders go into a pool, not a queue. Order date is largely irrelevant.

So your saying if that dealer keeps adding lower priority orders then the old higher order will just keep getting overlooked...?

Assuming they are identical orders, yes.

The dealer uses priority code to tell Ford their preferential for production order.

Thanks for the answer, even thou it's not what I wanted to hear. After owning 9 Fords in the last 7 decades, I'm low priority because I bought from a different dealer this time...

Ask you dealer if they will reassign you priority 10

If you bought from a different dealer than you can't compare priority codes, they only apply that that single dealer.

They're for the dealer to prioritize it's own orders. A priority 3 at one dealer does not have priority over a 19 at another dealer.

The chicken..... or possibly the egg. The thing is that if they are 2 identical orders and are from the same dealership, and neither have vin numbers. Both vehicles are essentially orders number 1 and 2 at the same time. Really at a certain point you could end up with a Schroedingers cat situation and one gets built as a 23 and the other does not. However if they are truely identical does it really matter?

One elephant in the room is allocations. If your dealer took more orders than allocations, your order(s) may not get built.

Another one is constraints. If anything on your order is a current constraint item (example: mud flaps), your order may get passed over in favor of one that has no current constraint items.

A lot of great answers in here and most of it truth. I didn't see mention that dealers can only put a priority code so low and from their Ford. Takes over. Priority codes will change over time and they were lower and lower until the unit is built.. Nine hundred percent sure, but I don't think a dealer can put a code lower than ten..

How can u tell if the priority gets lowered? i have xl ordered 7/18 with a 12 on order sheet.

Dealers assign 10-19 for retail orders anything lower than 10 gets assigned by corporate. The only way to know if your priority code has changed is to either ask your dealer or sometimes customer service can tell you.
