Yesterday morning going to work I met a semi on the 2 lane (nothing out of the ordinary) and suddenly the dash goes to yelling and the "pre-collision assist" thing popped up on the screen (news to me that it even existed). Thankfully it didn't jam on the brakes and make the guy behind me rear end me, truck went by as normal and that was it. Did a little research and turned it down to "low" and turned off the braking part of it. Sometimes the "safety" crap goes a bit far IMO. Truck and I were both well in our own lanes, so no idea what set it off but it could have went further toward causing an accident than preventing one. Had the Mav 7 months and still finding and shutting stuff off..😄

My old Audi SQ5 was notorious for It going off. If you were turning left at an intersection, it would get triggered by stand still cross traffic. Always put the settings as low as possible after that happened to me once.

I've had the alert a couple of times when the system thought I was coming up too fast on somebody. It was always deliberate driving on my part, and never due to my being innatentive or slow to react. I've never had it apply braking automatically. The automatic braking will reset to ON every time you start the truck, but I'm unsure about the sensitivity setting.

My first experience with automatic braking was when I was driving my sister-in-law's Mercedes with their 1st gen auto braking. It thought I was approaching somebody too fast and applied aggressive braking. Took me from 80 down to about 45 in the fast lane and almost got me rear-ended. The guy behind was not happy, he had to swerve onto the shoulder and there was plenty of honking. It scared the ever-living crap out of me. Needless to say, I'm very wary of the technology.

I have mine set as sensitive as it can be. It does alert. I've never had it start braking. I've had it misalert once on a totally empty road.

The system is using the camera and computer. I've gotten it to freak out a few times but luckily no braking either.
