I have about $100 worth of fordpass points that are burning a hole in my pocket. I will probably end up using them for an oil change or something, but I was thinking about getting the splashguards.

So my question is, do the splashguards actually do anything to protect the paint/side of the truck? Or are they mainly a cosmetic addition on a truck this small?

Sure do. I ordered the front and rear from Fairway Ford online. Paid $0 using my points. Easy to install and factory look. No complaints.

I think they're well worth the money, especially the front. I did a little unscientific experiment of driving through some mud at relatively slow speed to see where the splash points would be prior to installing the splash guards. The mud appeared from the bottom of the the front wheel well to a point about 8 inches above the bottom of the door and about 2 feet back. Since the door bottom flares it was easy to see where stone chips will occur. I haven't repeated the test will the splash guards installed, but I can tell just by looking at them that they will prevent most stone chips.

I'm not too worried about the back, but it looks good with all 4 installed. I used the OEM splash guards.

I did. There was an option from your shopping cart on Fairway Fords website to contact Nate via email. He is the parts manager. I completed the entire sale via email. I added everything to my cart I wanted and he applied the points for the purchase. You can call him directly by phone as well.

Thanks for the advice folks, definitely seems like the overall impression is positive on the rain/mud guards.

Also yes I have purchased from fairway ford using fordpass points. It was a pretty smooth process over email and the shipping was quick.

I just today decided I need to have some. Had my Mav three days and 50 miles. Just noted gummy stuff kicked up on the door already where stevhorn said it would be. Happened just this morning on 12 mile errand. Now, which flaps are the best for the front?

I have purchased 2 sets for under $40. each. They are all about the same. I did put some paint protection under the flaps on the blue Maverick. The Cyber Orange has mud flaps on top of the black flairs so no protection was needed.

I went with the Ford mudflaps but have not been on a muddy or gravel road to try them out yet.

I got the Mabett brand and recommend them.

My first choice is the Rokblokz but I refuse to pay $150 on a set of mud flaps.
