What plates do you have on your Maverick, the black truck plates or the blue car plates?

Truck plates was my only option!
In the past you could opt for regular or vanity plates if there was a rear seat and “Personal Use Only” sticker on the front plate.

What are y'all paying to license a vehicle in your province? Texas is $65 USD plus a $25 inspection. I don't think they still do it in MN but some folks with bigger vehicles paid up to $2,000 and I think California is kind of the same way. The more your car costs, the more you pay.

Of course. I understand you don't have an option for plates.

I guess I maybe should have been more clear in my question. My thought was that since both a car (Bronco Sport) and a truck (Maverick) are built on the same platform, could there be the potential for a car plate?

I'm thinking of something like the Explorer Sport Trac, which I have found pictures of sporting both blue plates (HERE) and black plates (HERE).

Depends on where you are. In Ontario we have both, in Quebec you don't need a front plate. Not sure about other provinces because I don't see them as often.

I don't have a problem with them esthetically, but I'm less convinced of their function. In Ontario at least, on trucks you put the registration sticker on the front plate, while cars it goes on the back. Police can easily pull up behind you, run your plates, and check your stickers in a car, but with a truck stickers can't easily be checked. Why have stickers in different places on vehicles. Seems unnecessary.

I'm curious what the reasoning is (maybe someone knows)? Is it because trucks tow things that block the rear plate, so stickers go on the front? I have no idea.

I was told by dealership there was no choice. Province changed the rules.

Depends on the Province I think that Ontario, British Columbia and Manitoba do the other 7 Provinces don’t
