So I got a basic line-x spray in liner for 550 on Tuesday. I didn’t realize until yesterday that they did not spray all of the tailgate. When I took it back this morning and asked about it they said that is how they do all the mavericks because if they spray the parts circled then you can’t take the tailgate apart. Needless to say I was not happy with that answer. So I asked the salesman how much to spray that part since I don’t want it getting scratched and damaged which was the whole point of getting the spray in liner in the first place. He went and asked the owner and came back with 50 dollars to do it. I told him I would think about it. I think at this point I will just get a spray can and diy. I really don’t want to pay them more money to do the job they should have don’t the first time and no matter if I do it or they do I will be mad about it. How do everyone else’s tailgates with spray in liner look like?

I'm now quite curious whether this is consistent with the factory SIBL procedure.

I am not sure I buy thier reasoning but my hinges were covered with liner and I dont see any problems that that could cause. I would not be happy with the liner as provided and they should make it right. Ask they why would you need to take your tailgate apart unless it was to replace the parts that were scatched up due to not being lined?

For what it's worth, here is my OEM factory applied liner....slightly less coverage than yours.

Mine is the same. I wonder if it’s because of the initial line x measurements?

That's more than what the factory does... I also noticed they covered your tie downs. If you ever need to remove them you will need to cut the liner.

As a side note, I like how you put additional D rings in the bed.

Thanks, I got the idea from someone else on the forums that had done it.

Autonation did mine. They covered the whole thing. I could see where it would make the panel hard to remove but that's unlikely and I would rather it be covered. If I were you I would be more upset about the lines. Who did they have mask that a 5 year old. Looks terrible. Insist they at least fix that free.

This is mine. Got the dealer to do it (they contract it out to a lineX place). Tailgate was totally covered.

Same as above post. Dealer had it done by Line-X. I would show them pictures of how it should have been done. Maybe they will make it right at no additional cost.
