Correct me if I'm wrong. Looks like neither the XL or XLT have a rear defroster. Looking at photos of climate controls, there's no button I can find. I'm pretty sure l read that the Lariat power slider comes with defroster.

I too was thinking about this and cant see them not including it for safety reasons, but it has happened before. Here is a shot of the XLT climate controls and one from the Bronco Sport. I cant make out what the top left button near MAX defefrost is suppose to be.

I think top left button is heated mirrors (luxury pkg)

None of the pictures look like there are lines in the window too

Is it possible for the rear defrost to be tied in with the heated mirrors like some other vehicles?

I took the "Power-sliding rear window with defroster and privacy glass" option to mean that the manual sliding rear window itself did not have defroster, which would make sense.

I always thought rear defroster was standard. Is this how it is with most trucks

I have the feature on my F150 and it’s tied into the heated mirrors too. I never use it as past couple generation F150s (mine’s a 2013) were prone to the rear defrost overheating and causing one of the rear windows to shatter. Just under $1,000 repair to replace the whole rear window. Most of the time no help from Ford or never a recall. Lots of F150 users have gone the distance to pull the fuse or just not use it.

Remote start with just cabin air to defrost ahead of time always worked well enough for me. They’re vertical windows so they’re typically not too bad.

There is an option to turn off rear defrost by default during remote start in the menu.

Wow. This is likely going to be an issue in cold climates. Strange thing for Ford to overlook

I’ve owned MANY trucks without rear defrost. I’ve owned a couple Thad had it, but I’ve never used it. Never has been an issue. I imagine it’s because the window is upright.

I live in the northeast. Another reason I’m opting for the Lariat trim level. My current Tacoma (not an option on any trim level) doesn’t have one and it is a pain in the rear in winter months.

I see people mentioning seeing no buttons on the Lariat interior shots, remember, those are all preproduction examples. That option may not have been available at the time those were produced and is typical of preproduction examples.

Looks like there are after market defrosters available, that look relatively easy to install. I wonder what the chances there would be the wiring harness for it available back there?
