Just copied all the CDs onto the computer, then put them on the memory stick.
If you want something that will actually work, copy those music files & folders to your phone and use a decent music player that lets you browse or search by Folders, Genre, Artist, Album - or shuffle.

Then you can play the music via Bluetooth, or with a USB-C cable & Android Auto or apple car play. Pulsar music player works great with Android Auto. It's free and no ads.

Seems like it adds another level of complexity. Besides, I only have 24GB of memory left on my phone, but I have 80GB of music on that memory stick. But I may try copying some of my music to my phone to see how it works. (Oh yeah, what's the easiest way to copy all that from a Windows computer to an iPhone?)

Just copied all the CDs onto the computer, then put them on the memory stick. There are MP3 files and WAV files, whatever was on the CDs. Like I said, the stick played fine in a Subaru and if I plug it into my computer it plays fine. It'll play in the Maverick too, but there isn't really any way to find everything by a certain artist, for example. They are in folders just like in Windows, so it should be easy... but not in the Maverick.
Try to ensure that all files are MP3. I know that some GM's have issues with different file formats on the same USB.

Not really, once you get it setup. I get in the truck, turn it on and back out of the garage. By the time I've clicked off all the truck's nag screens, the phone is paired and my music starts playing through bluetooth, without me doing anything.

Sorry your phone's storage is insufficient. Apple seems to want an arm & a leg to get one of their phones that has lots of storage. You might look at converting the .wav format files to .mp3. WAVs are often huge file sizes.

I have the Hott C105 CD player with a radio transmitter. It sounds okay when it's really loud, otherwise it kinda sounds like somebody left a towel laying over the speakers. 😬

Has anyone tried this cheap Ebay adapter in their Maverick? I wonder how well it works. Two of these for $4.99.

Most of those USB-C/3.5mm adapters are unidirectional; they're designed to plug headphones into a phone. So typically they don't work for this use case of converting analog to USB.

How do I find out which ones?
Search for "USB android cd player" on eBay or Amazon. There's two generic models that typically pop up. I don't recall if anyone has used the white-faced version; most have reported to be using this one:

Glad I could help. Don't have my XLT yet, but I hope to use this for my Roady Sirius/XM radio that I move between vehicles and my home. Works in my other applications, should work in the Maverick.

Are you sure that the files are tagged with this information (metadata)? I use MP3Tag, a Windows utility to add all that data to my MP3 files and then copy the files to a USB stick. Works great in my Maverick XLT; I can search by artist, album, genre, etc.

Agreed, skip the CD thing and put those files in a USB flash drive. It will be more convenient, plus with a CD your limited to a little less than 700mb. You'll have plenty with 4gb flash drive that cost less $10 now a days.

BTW, is the USB socket for the mp3 player the same socket as the charging port (my mav hasn't shipped yet)?

This is what I have. It played the recently purchased AC/DC CD just fine. Next CD (and more) it can't even begin to play. I tried many manufactured CDs, as well as ones I burned myself. I can play all of these on my computer's DVD drive as well as on the DVD attached to my TV. Maverick won't play any of them. The previous CD player I had was similar to this one, and it crapped out after a week or so. Maverick can't connect to them, and/or there are errors in playback.

There's both a USB-C and USB-A port and either can be used. The biggest downside is the SYNC system interface isn't really that great for trying to browse a lot of files if you don't want to just use Shuffle or have things set up in playlists ahead of time.
