I noticed after updating that apple car play loads almost instantly now and there's no more reverse camera lag, at least way less than before. I'm happy with that. I noticed no other changes

What I don’t get is how this would ever Auto Update. There is an option for that and mine is switched on but it seems to me this would be manual only.

....and I'm noticing the exact opposite. Before update, it would load in less than 5 seconds or so. Now, about 45 seconds to a minute.

My ritual is start the truck, wake up the phone and then plug the phone in to the USB-C to Lightning cable. Phone MUST be woke up even though in settings it is set to activate in sleep mode.

IMHO Ford still has work to do. I am not a coder but it seems to me there are not insurmountable issues for Ford to resolve for a better user experience.

:ROFLMAO: I was wondering the exact same thing. I could have my truck parked in my den where the router is and it would not auto update. I parked my truck just outside the window of my den about 10-12 feet away from an Xfinity router and it did nothing. It was the old wifi hot spot trick or nothing.

You can log into your WiFi at home and have the truck use that to update, but I prefer to do it myself.

After several more trips, I think I can say that my USB files scan quicker and more consistently now. I have about 5800 files in 760 folders and it scans in about 3 minutes consistently. I haven't had issues with it loosing its place in a playlist either. I'm sure over the long haul, there will still be occasional glitches. It seems to be the nature of these low end infotainment units.

Unfortunately, I think there is no way to make the vehicle automatically connect to a saved wifi. If it did, I think these updates might happen automatically, but basically, once you tell it to connect to wifi, you might as well tell it to scan for updates since it won't stay connected for long (unless you are driving with your phone working as a hotspot for the truck).

Yep that's exactly the way it looks to me as well.

I basically did the same thing, moved the router to about 15 ft from truck late afternoon and no luck. Moved router back to where it belongs about 40 ft from the truck and the next morning at 5 am it downloaded in just a few minutes.

I wonder if server load is an issue that would explain the slower downloads. I've also been able to monitor the connection from my router and was seeing that the wi-fi was being dropped intermittingly...this with the Maverick 20 feet away from the router.

Yes that is my thought as well. I have really good and stable internet throughout the day myself but who knows about Ford servers?

So I am happy to report that this download has significantly improved my connection with my wireless CarPlay adapter. Really everything seems more responsive where as before I was basically ready to chuck the adapter.

Have you upgraded to iOS17? When I did that apple car play seemed to respond better, then upgraded the truck.
