I've waited ~1.5 years to get this hybrid so decided to break it in with a drive from Metro Detroit to the Pisgah forest in North Carolina.

Here are some of my quick thoughts:
  • Ride quality is great, seats are comfortable
  • Wind noise is nothing to worry about.
  • Plenty of power to pass or keep good pace up a mountain road.
  • Door handle is annoying and keep grabbing air instead of the handle lol
  • Rear view mirror is too low, blocks right turns and need to look around for pedestrians.(edit: suggested can be adjusted vertically which I didn't try)
  • Developed creaking noise in upper right a pillar area around 900 miles. Only over steady bumps.
  • Shifter knob is taking time to get used to, nothing crazy but I occasionally reach for a shifter lever.
  • Storage space is awesome!
  • Heated seats pump out the heat well!
  • Highway mileage around 30mpg going by info panel.
  • Cruise control is easy to use.
  • Speakers are definitely not the best.
  • Auto high beams are distracting
  • Easy to reach into the bed for things or to use tie downs.
  • EDIT: Not having keyless entry and keyless ignition sucks coming from it in previous vehicle.

All in all I really enjoy the truck, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Some rearview mirrors ( don't have my Maverick yet so don't know about it) have a short stalk they are mounted to. You can raise the level of the rear view mirror quite a bit if it has that setup.

Yep, the mirror adjusts vertically as well. Ford ships them way too low for many of us, just need to raise it up. There are threads about that…

Congrats fellow Michigander on getting your Mav! Nice write-up too. My truck also developed that A-Pillar noise within the first 1000 miles, but it only seems to do it when it's really cold out (not surprised honestly). And what you mentioned about the auto highbeams, I agree, when driving in more populated/suburban areas. They'll turn on for like two seconds, then turn back off. On rural roads they're actually quite neat though!

Ha! That's one of the things I love about this forum, you learn something every day! I had no idea the center mirror could be moved up. Thanks!

Nice write up, and sync's with my own thoughts as well.

I am hearing more road (tire) noise than wind noise.

The inside door handle is in a weird location. There is another thread on the forum where someone got roasted hard for saying that, but it is true. It is further forward than other vehicles I have owned. I'm talking about the solid handle that you grab to pull the door closed, not the latch to open the door.

The noise in the pillar is from the plastic window alignment pins. There are quite a few threads on here about it, and even one with a DIY solution. Most are taking them back to the dealer to have them remove the pins by removing the pillar cover and lowering the headliner for access.

It took me about a week before I stopped reaching for the column shifter, and even now I hesitate occasionally. :)

I'm still adjusting to many of the automation features, like the auto high beams. You can turn those off if you want:

Congratulations all the way from TX. Beautiful truck and great piece. Here is another one that did not know that you could adjust the vertical height of the mirror. Even us old codgers can learn a thing or three. LOL. Enjoy your new Maverick.

Any more info on your mileage? So you averaged around 30 MPG on the highway for the entire trip? I know you said it's a new vehicle but I would think the MPG would be higher than that? I know it's only rated for 33 MPG highway but I'm just going by what I see other's post here for hybrid mileage.

Just pull the stalk back or forward to turn the highbeam A icon off, don't need to go through the menus.

Auto highbeams are the bomb diggitus.

I've got about 1500 miles on mine. I too, waited 15 months. But it was worth it. I ordered a strippo with a hitch. I had my 2022 order rolled over to a 2023 and got cruise control standard. My mileage right now is averaging between 37 and 39 over all. I'm finding out I get BETTER mileage by taking the side roads than the main hwys.
I keep finding "new" features on this thing! I put in a pair of bed "cubbies" and they are fantastic!
Also followed someone's advice on here and put a pair of bed tie downs on the floor.
Auto headlights? Well... still getting used to them.
Rear view mirror. I can live with it.
Just last night I told my wife the radio sucks. (again I can live with it. It may be the speakers, but there is NO high end at all.
Rotary shifter? Again, I can live with it, but still reach for a lever (coming off a 5 sp manual)
Ride, road/wind noise all fine!
The other day I noticed a loud clunk coming for the L front. Mostly on little choppy bumps.
Turns out the was a chunk of ice buried somewhere. I noticed water dripping for a day or so, and the noise went away.
All and all, I find it a very easy vehicle to live with. And for the price?
The 2022 I ordered had a window sticker on 20,100. When it rolled to a 2023, the sticker was a bit over 22,000. Ford rebated me 2700 bucks! Put me into this one for roughly 19,300.!
I'd buy another one in a heartbeat
