A picture is worth a thousand words.
Unknown gas octane the factory or dealership put in the first tank.
98% city driving
Picked up from dealership on 4/13/22
Approx. 38 days driving

I filled my tank with regular octane this time and will post when that tank is used
After that I will fill with middle octane and then high octane. This will take about 80 more days to get those numbers

Thanks

Ford Maverick My first tank hybrid fuel economy has me jumping for joy. 49.7 mpg / 401.6 electric miles / 667.6 total miles 280967564_10223257479998802_3692470133356361695_n

Only 266 miles involved the ICE? And that used 13 gallons of gas? That means that in hybrid mode with the ICE running the average was like 20mpg. Not knocking the performance, the 49.7mpg is impressive but that seems like a low number when you calculate for just the ICE.

Agreed I thought the same after I ran through the math.

Sometime the ICE engine will run to charge the HV battery or run to produce cabin heat or run because the AC is draining the HV battery.

I have had the display show "all electric-only mode" while driving and the ICE engine was running because one of the above were happening. So in this scenario the truck was driving on electric power but the ICE engine was spinning the motor/generator as a generator to charge the HV battery.

I don't believe you can interpret the non-electric miles as the only time the ICE engine runs.

Yup...FANTASTIC! people can him and haw about the "ice mpg", but I look at the COMPLETE picture...which is 49.7 even if you look at the 20 mpg, strictly city, with lots of lights/stopping as the hour meter shows, isn't bad...not including it running for charging/heat/ac whatever. There are always folks who will find fault in everything.

How many gallons did it take to fill up? Pic of receipt? Then we can see how far off the calculated mileage differs from real world. Thank you.

Screw all the other questions, I want to know where you paid $3.94... I thought $4.45 was my deal of the day... (Smh that nearly $4 is even considered reasonable for gas)

This was just letting the pump click off.

And you managed to get 14 gallons of gas in a 13.8 gal tank…impressive! Lol crazy it clicked off on 14 exactly, did you happen to refill with like ‘1 mi left til empty’?

667.6 / 14.008 = 47.7 MPG's which is close to the 49.7 shown on the display.

Still excellent fuel economy.

It's essentially meaningless to calculate "ICE MPG" since the ICE is only getting used when needed, and those times of need tend to be less efficient circumstances (warming/charging/accelerating). Thinking about it like that actually makes 20MPG in city driving look pretty good.
