Alas, it is with great sorrow I report that while my wife was en-route for some errands, she was struck and my beautiful 2023 Atlas Blue Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid was destroyed.

She was going 55 mph and the guy pulled out almost in front of her, striking passenger doors and sending her into a spin into a line of traffic waiting to turn left into the road she was passing. Unfortunately, it was a triple tragedy. The vehicle waiting first in line was another 2023 White Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid. Both were totaled. The 2002 Acura RL that pulled out and initially struck my wife was also totaled. It was a triple tragedy because the owner of the white Maverick was transported via ambulance and, unfortunately, her canine friend was killed on impact.

My wife is OK, as is my dog. It handled very well in the crash and protected all occupants as well as could be. Pictures should follow tomorrow when I visit the tow yard. I am heartbroken. 13,297 mi was the final odo reading with average MPG at 51.1, never reset from when I took ownership January 9th this year.

Question of the year: should I plan on getting a new one exactly like it? We were absolutely in love.

Here are the photos. I've about decided to get a new Lariat, same color, with more options.

Hope the driver of the white XLT hybrid will be physically okay. Sorry to hear about her canine friend.
I'm glad your wife & your dog are okay.

Totally agree and it's also sad to lose two Mavericks in one accident but at least your wife and dog are okay, hope the person in the white Maverick comes out of this ok.

I agree with other posters, sorry for your loss...

While I am glad that your wife is a OK, that might not be the best thing to post it on a public forum. The insurance companies may find your posting, rather specific description, they may not want to pay any claims, that may come up a day or two later, based on your posting. At least that what my lawyer friend advised, I'd probably wouldn't even report the accident in the forum until all claims are settled...

We are living in a crazy world with roads filled with drivers who are spending more time texting and watching videos than paying attention to driving. That is a shame to lose your Mav and someone else lose theirs in same accident. So sorry for the dog that was killed, but glad your wife is ok. I am sure you will find another Maverick and continue the enjoyment of driving an unbelievable vehicle. We have two Lariat Hybrids and are amazed at performance, comfort and economy.

If you liked it so much....why is there a question?

I agree with all the previous posters. So sad.

Definitely order another one. Maybe choose a different color, to help move on from the accident.
Thanks for the advice. Probably will!

Thanks, but she's not at fault. She wasn't cited, driver 1 was. She was driver 2 of 3. There aren't gag orders on accidents. I do accident investigations as part of my job. Now, if she was at fault, I'd understand trying to remain silent, etc. to minimize damage to oneself, but she wasn't. She was hit by someone while diving along through a non signaled intersection and the fellow failed to yield, struck the trucks right side, sending her into a spin, and the left rear quarter panel struck the other Maverick that was coming the other way head on.

Driver 1 was ticketed X3.

I'm still out and about dealing with particulars. I have the photos, will post when home.

Thankful there was minimal passenger compartment intrusion. Likely what saved your wife and dog from injury or worse.

@rJay did you see the white XLT in the same tow yard by chance? Or the at fault vehicle? I'd be curious to see the damage to all involved vehicles.
