So someone in town posted on Reddit that they had "10 cubic feet of dirt" they needed taken away. They live in an apartment and did not have a truck. I figured we needed some fill dirt for parts of our yard and free dirt is always nice. So we headed over to grab what they had. Once we picked it all up it was definitely more than 10 cubic feet. It was probably closer to 30. But it was already loaded and I have done worse with other vehicles so I figured I would just take it easy and it should be okay.

Made it home with no issues and still managed some impressive mileage considering the truck was squatting and we were doing between 55 and 65 most of the time.

Ford Maverick Might have overloaded the Maverick today... but handled it like a champ and still impressive mileage 20240401_150816

I saw a guy pack an infinity SUV with 30 bags of $2 mulch at Lowe's yesterday. That was sitting lowwwwww. I made the comment and even the Lowe's guy laughed.

Certainly is squatting at the back. Your payload capacity is 1,500 lbs, but this includes passengers and fuel. If you really had 30 cubic feet of soil, you were way over that limit (30 cubic feet would weigh 2,100 lbs - 3,000 lbs).

The Maverick's bed dimensions work out to something like 33 cubic feet. Looking at the pictures, I would say you are probably pretty close! That's over a cubic yard of dirt and it still fits under the cover!

Yes. It was a lot but handled it like a champ.

The more I use it the more I am impressed by the Maverick. It really is a great truck for homeowners.

If it isn’t on the bump stops, you still have capacity.
It still had room to move. But pulling out and turning from an incline did lead to tire spinning if you tried to punch it. But other than that it was surprisingly capable

Well, putting that much weight in the box is one way to get a hybrid to "spin out"!;):)
I must say that I believe I would rather work with the Georgia red clay than that Central
Texas "dirt" with which you overloaded your truck. Just saying........... Your cats might like it though....😺😺

Interesting and good post!

It is just getting used to fill some low spots in the yard before we do landscaping.

I’ve got a 2023 XL fwd, went to gravel pit, got 1500# crushed rock loaded - it did squat similar to yours (photo) - the Maverick handled it great!

How was the steering and braking with that much weight in the back?
