JEFFERSONVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A Clark County man was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital after a wrong-way collision Tuesday morning.

Trevor Adkins, 28, was driving a blue 2022 Ford Maverick truck northbound in the southbound lane of Paul Garrett Avenue in Jeffersonville when he collided head on with a semi-truck around 10 a.m., according to Indiana State Police.

The driver of the semi-truck, 57-year-old Timothy Bishop was driving southbound and veered left into the center lane to avoid hitting Adkins.

However, Adkins also turned back into the center lane, and the two vehicles collided head-on, according to the police report.

Adkins’ truck was pushed backward due to the impact of the crash.

Emergency responders removed Adkins from his vehicle and was taken to UofL Hospital with serious injuries.

Bishop was uninjured in the crash.

Officials believe alcohol played a role in the crash however, officers are awaiting toxicology reports.

Hate it for the people involved, but this brings me to question the safety rating for the maverick. I wonder when that will be tested and released?

The fiberglass shell on a tractor has no strength, but you're talking about an extremely heavy vehicle, with thick steel girders which make up her frame, suspension, etc. - hitting a Maverick?

The Mav did extraordinarily well; if the Mav weren't crash worthy, the unitbody between the rear door - real wheel - would've buckled.

Dang that sucks. I have only ever owned three brand new vehicles in my life. One of which was a 91' Ford Ranger. Had that less than three weeks, and hit black ice on I-25. flipped it. Totaled. I walked away. Had to roll down the passenger side window to get out. I was fortunate in that accident, also no alcohol involved, but life can change quickly.

If you survive a head on collision with a semi, don't care what vehicle you are in (short of another semi) its nothing short of a miracle.

Trucks only lose to trains. Yet so many people F with trucks on the roads.
