Well no freaking duh, make a 42mpg pickup truck for less than the cost of a Corolla LE on the brink of $10/gallon gas and of course it's gonna sell. Cars are way too big nowadays and nobody wants to spend $40k after tax for a Tacoma (which was once the cheapest most reliable bang for your buck small pickup but now has worse MPG than a Tundra or F150.)
The only reason 1980-2005 Toyota Tacomas have shot up in value so much is because people miss small trucks. (And that one top gear episode.)
