After seeing this topic title several times, I hate to break it to you guys, but Maverick hasn't been on TV for over 60 years!

My wife worked with someone that won a car one time in a contest, It wasn't on TV but it was just a contest locally. So she wins the car, and then with the sales tax and then the fact that you have to declare it as income it cost her like $7,000 bucks and she was just irate. And I looked and said you do realize you just got a $40,000 car for $7,000 bucks. You can turn around and sell it tomorrow and still make a hell of a profit.
I chatted a few years ago with a guy whose business was providing cars for contests/prizes/jackpots.
He said that most people take his cash offer instead of the car!
