Now that the election is over the economy can start to get back to normal.

When I got back into the car sales biz in early '91 I worked st our local Ford store.

When '92 rolled around I was doing OK selling 10-14 new/ used per month.

I was working on a $175/ week guarantee plus 25% of the net profit on all my sales.

I also got paid to do accessory installations like bug shields, running boards, tonneau covers, etc. Our service dept. didn't want anything to do with that part of the buzz and our body shop was too busy to mess with that stuff.

Come March, and the usual increase in floor traffic that came with spring, my boss (who owned the biz and also sold) told me I had better start saving some of those commission checks since we had a presidential election coming up in November. He said business would suffer as people held onto their cash not knowing what direction the economy was headed.

I kinda laughed that off... until August hit and our yearly end of summer slowdown came when families spent their cash on school clothes, tuition and such not on new vehicles.

That usually lasted until mid- September. But the election jitters came right after that slowdown and my sales #'s went into the crapper the rest of the year.

My sales plunged from that 10-14 per month to 3...

A big, snowy January bailed my ass out of those doldrums as we sold every new 4x4 F-series truck we had in stock.

So I think auto/light truck sales should improve a bit near term. Sticker prices are still way too high but interest rates are still favorable to help restore sales a bit.

Excellent perspective. I worked in supply chain forecasting during that time period. Very chaotic with forecasts always wrong either high or low. By historical standards, the economy is more stable than in generations past (great depression, WW etc) but cyclical patterns will always exist.

That AWD hybrid option with 4K tow package is the most appealing change about the 25 IMHO.
Dealers will sell every Hybrid AWD 4K they can put on their lots.

I'd love that, but sadly not worth the price increase over my FWD eco, for me. Would take me a lifetime of fuel savings to make up the diff especially with general pricing increase.

Where I live AWD just isn't a necessity. Heck for my use cases even in parts of Canada AWD isn't justifying the cost increase vs snow tires etc. Its just $5-6k for me to spend on other toys šŸ¤£.

$5k is about what I dropped on two eMtb and two capable kids Mtb. They fit in the bed nicely and get us where ever we're going after the trail head.

Donā€™t need AWD and donā€™t like the look of the 25 Maverick, so I bought a 24 and got $1300 off MSRP a hybrid Lariat.
Good stuff! My 2025 is only $963 under MSRP but glad to have all of the new features that it comes with, including AWD.

I think the 23s and 24s will hold their value for awhile due to the price increases (again) but also there are many folks who prefer the 8" screen, manual hvac controls, and original front end.

Things on my wish still arenā€™t available on 25 so Iā€™m not missing anything. Auto dimming review mirror, power passenger seat and redesign of door interior pockets so I can use them as they are not deep enough to hold ice scrapper etc and travel mugs wonā€™t fit in them.

Yep. Sounds like you did well with the 24 then.

Big seller for me is the AWD Hybrid and the 4K tow is just chefā€™s kiss. But I really appreciate the sync 4 upgrade, bigger screens, 360 camera and all of the creature comforts I was missing in my XLT+Lux tremor.

I do wish I could have a power passenger seat but didnā€™t find the need for an auto-dimming mirror too much due to the small rear window and privacy glass however thatā€™s an easy add on with homelink even.

I actually like the real AC buttons. I had a loaner with the bigger screen and adjusting the fan was kind of wonky.

Just found out that your observation on self dimming rear view mirror is right on. Very seldom drive at night so last night was first time to drive one of our Mavericks at night. Drove to Branson MO yesterday and was late getting there. One super duty came up on me with his brights on didnā€™t bother me at all.
