Glad you are able to post and will heal up, OP.

I am seriously considering a second one myself.

Off topic ... I did not know of LEO FJR1300 motos in the states.
I have only seen pics/video of them in use abroad. Very cool.

I was out visiting customers today (specifically what I bought my hybrid for) and had a nice lady in a Nissan fail to yield and made a left turn in front of me, resulting in a near head-on crash.

I caught a ride home, grabbed my other car and went to the ER. To my surprise I don't have broken ribs but have torn muscles. I've broken ribs before and this feels like it.

Body shop early estimate is $15k in airbags, $15k in body and paint. I'll have more next week but its an XL Hybrid that repair parts aren't readily available for, you can do the math.

Life is fragile my friends. This wasn't scary but things happen quick, especially when they're something you can't avoid.

Have a better weekend than me!

Ouch! In a number of ways. Glad you're okay but you probably should have gone straight to the ER. $30k for the repair? That's right on the edge for your poor Maverick

Sorry bro, rib cage injuries just plain suck, and losing your Mav to boot. Gut punch for sure, but could have been worse.

Rude reminder to drive hyper-defensively 100% of the time. The number of idiot clueless drivers on the road is staggering.

Saw this sad post yesterday and didn't even realize it was in STG @ River/road- That stretch and area is becoming a hot mess of idiot drivers and congestion- We avoid at all costs- Have a place just below the Dixie D- Are you going to get a replacement on order when the banks open up in July ?
I don't go down to SG very often, but yeah it's bad. The worst are Provo student drivers. I know those people are lovers of God if there ever were any, but with how they drive, you would think they were trying to have that meeting as soon as possible.

Ouch - and Cactus Gray is my favorite color too.

I try to avoid fingering any one group or sex for bad driving. Accidents happen to all kinds of people, and it takes only one moment of inattention or one poor decision in a lifetime of good driving to be the at-fault driver.

I can say that over the last five decades I've avoided some accidents because I was the guy looking out for the other driver's bad decision. And I can say that I've avoided other accidents because the other driver was looking out for my bad decision.

Sorry to hear and see. This scares the hell out of me. Wait so long only to have it taken away so fast.

Glad you're okay. A note to everyone: BUY A DASHCAM! It can make a big difference in proving fault in an accident, or even proving to the court that a light wasn't red when you entered the intersection. And be careful out there!

Good Thing: She (the Mav) took care of you!! ;)
Bad Thing: You did loose use of a "Sweet Looking Ride..

Now a days, a person has to follow an old adage:
"Watch Out For The Other Guy"
Ford Maverick Maverick down, I repeat MAVERICK XL HYBRID DOWN! ($15k in airbags, $15k in body and paint damage repair) WatchOutForTheOtherGuy

That slogan still comes to mind.
And I practice that every time I get behind the wheel.

Was this before you have had the chance to have the air bag recall fixed or after? Looks like it did its job and deployed flawlessly!

well, State Farm totaled mine out for 24k in repairs.
the best bet is to start calling dealerships now looking for one that a customer turned down. some dealers will still do MSRP some only mark it up a couple of thousand. but I called about 30 dealers in Florida and found one within a week. and then once I found one I had two other dealers call me back. with one as well. so if you are looking for another one, I recommend starting now. Insurance should be quick to call it and get you a payout.
