I was out visiting customers today (specifically what I bought my hybrid for) and had a nice lady in a Nissan fail to yield and made a left turn in front of me, resulting in a near head-on crash.

I caught a ride home, grabbed my other car and went to the ER. To my surprise I don't have broken ribs but have torn muscles. I've broken ribs before and this feels like it.

Body shop early estimate is $15k in airbags, $15k in body and paint. I'll have more next week but its an XL Hybrid that repair parts aren't readily available for, you can do the math.

Life is fragile my friends. This wasn't scary but things happen quick, especially when they're something you can't avoid.

Have a better weekend than me!

This is my biggest fear! I love my new hybrid so much, but if totaled in an accident, it will be impossible to replace in a timely manner. Makes me drive like a little old lady!

Oops, I am an old lady! 😎

That just sucks!

Did you wait forever for it, or find it on the lot? I waited 18 months for my hybrid, in part due to my decision to ad lux package.

If you are offered a choice to repair or total it, let it go. You will be chasing rattles, pulls, and fading paint forever.

I'm not sure about your state, but in mine with the percentage of damage to value she is totaled. Glad it protected you.

Similar occurance took out my wife's prior Escape. Driver of a Nissan failed to yield while turning left and pulled out in front of her. Hopefully your offender has better insurance then the one I dealt with.

That lady definitely went rogue! 😉
Glad to hear that you are relatively okay. I hope your insurance gives you a bunch of money.

Glad you're not hurt worse.

Curious if the deployed airbags were pre or post recall, or if you were even affected by that recall.

Sad to see another Maverick down. Looks like you will be having funeral soon, but glad you are ok. You are in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Have friends in St. George and just love to see that part of the country when we go there every few years. Guess you will be sitting in dealer when order banks open in July.

Sorry for your loss, my friend. Literally almost happened to us last week; fortunately I was able to miss the female driver at the last second, but she appeared to have zero concern for her mistake.

Bummer. Most likely totaled. Maybe you can put in a 24 order and get by with something temporary?

Saw this sad post yesterday and didn't even realize it was in STG @ River/road- That stretch and area is becoming a hot mess of idiot drivers and congestion- We avoid at all costs- Have a place just below the Dixie D- Are you going to get a replacement on order when the banks open up in July ?
