Lariat Tail Lights vs. XL / XLT difference

Anyone else notice that the Lariat appears to have unique tail lights? This really stood out to me in the pictures that @CoryDallas8123 shared with us today.

Up until now, I thought tail lights were the same across all of the models. There's clearly something going on with these Lariat lights with the upper and lower c-shaped illumination. It doesn't look like they are LED, but does anyone know more?

So, nobody knows or cares about the different tail lights lol? There's been so much buzz about the "signature" headlights, I thought someone else may have noticed the different tail lights as well. Doesn't seem like Ford has mentioned this anywhere to date. Anybody?

Does look like the XL/XLT tail lights don't have the top and bottom LED strip.... hard to say about the middle. It would make sense if the headlights are upgraded that the tail lights would be too.

Lariat tail lights look better for sure. Will need to see some video footage comparisons to really know.

Looks like accent lighting like Lariat gets for headlights but it may not be mentioned because it may not be in the final model. Preproduction testers like are in TX may have slightly different features that got cut. Let's remember originally Lariat was gonna have heated rear window that got scrapped.

I looked for this specifically on the Lariat I was looking at today. It didn't appear there was direct LEDs around the edge because I didn't notice it lighting up with the park lights turned on. It may just be some light guide effect and is very understated in the daylight.

I may be wrong, but this looks like a photo taken with a flash. Dot requires red reflectors on the back and sides of vehicles. Sometimes those reflectors are in the tail lights. It looks like reflectors to me.
Someone please take a couple photos of the tail lights with and without the flash on.

That's why I also shared this one, which is from Car&Driver's studio shoot. No flash here, can subtly see the upper, lower illumination, and the middle illumination is very noticeable.


I'm just wondering if like others said, it was pre-production and the different lighting for the Lariat got scrapped for cost or supply issues.

Definitely looks like some subtle out illumination and very obvious center LED strip in this video here with the lights on.

So those lights lit up like that? You could see it with your naked eye? Strange. I haven’t seen a single other tail light look like that in all the pictures we have so far.

I could be wrong though.
I guess We will know for sure when people start taking delivery.

This video here shows the Lariat illumination very well. Best I've found so far.

Anyone know more about the Lariat's tail lights. Looks like unique lighting for sure, but no mention in any of Ford docs yet.
