Not my Maverick, but first set of KO2 tires I've seen on a Hybrid Maverick.

These are factory stock size. So it also fits factory spare location.

To each their own but I do not understand buying a FWD hybrid truck for efficiency and then immediately torpedo the fuel economy.
It depends on the size and the person’s situation. P235/65/17 is a stock option you can select over the regular 225/65/17. Hit to gas mileage is minimal atleast with that size. Also some people have to deal with snow, dirt roads, etc where a slightly more aggressive tire makes sense.

Ya these KO2 are the factory stock size. So it also fits factory spare location. Updated my post with this.

Not just the size but the tread and tire weight that all causes the efficiency loss.

Just on size alone you're looking at roughly 4% larger surface patch, plus weight, plus tread. I'd assume it's a 10%+ hit to MPG.

Again - to each their own but I just see this as a head scratcher.
Have you done research into this? Many have, seeing as it’s a factory size, and the hit is very minimal 1-2 mpg.

Do you have a towing hitch?
Just curious as you said the spare fits. Mavericks with a hitch (not sure if awd matters)
Won’t fit a full size spare without modifying a safety feature

You make a good point, but I would think some people are happy to temporarily trade mileage for a safer ride in inclement conditions. You are correct. Year-round would somewhat defeat the reasons to buy a hybrid, not to mention the tire rumble. I would surmise the member is only using these for winter.

Looks good but I do think KO2s are a little crazy for the hybrid. They weigh 39lbs. Stock tires are 24lbs. I do plan on getting some AT tires for my hybrid but something a little more reasonable like the Firestone destination A/T2 in 235/45/17 and are 28lbs.

Not everyone with the hybrid wants to drive solely on-road in sunny conditions - you'd take a similar hit performance wise with gas or diesel trucks, and nobody gives a crap there. I'd still be coming out ahead on fuel economy compared to a 2.0L ecoboost with the same tires if I had these.

Still good fuel economy. Not everyone bought a hybrid to be fuel efficient alone. I take a huge hit but can’t imagine a truck that would get better efficiency with my given tires

KO2 is strictly for looks and off-road use. In winter they suck, the tire compound hardens and do not perform well wet and cold. Period.
Summer they handle great and fairly quiet
coming from the F150 world many can vouch for that

I know it’s hard to understand, but some people drive their FWD mavericks on dirt roads, the meatier tread of an all terrain tire vastly improves traction from the stock tires. Also, the hybrids are averaging 45 to 50mpgs, people are only seeing a 5mpg loss with larger than stock all terrains which brings you down to 40-45 mpg, while awd’s are averaging 20-30 on ROAD tires. I know it’s complicated, you may never understand it, but if you try hard you might be able to GET OVER IT and stop giving your 2 cents on what OTHER people do with THEIR trucks.

I've been doing a lot of research on this as I consider which direction I want to go with my hybrid Mav. I can get an on/off road AT tire/wheel combo that in 17" OR 18" that SAVES between 2.38 lbs and 9.65 lbs PER TIRE over the factory steel wheel/Continental combo depending upon how aggressive you want to get. Point is, yes, you can go this route and cost yourself mpg...but you don't necessarily have to if you choose wisely.

Exact approach I took when upgrading the wheels & tires on my old hybrid.
I purchased lightweight Vors wheels and paired them with Nokian Outpost APT severe snow & low rolling resistance rated AT-lite tires.
Currently selling the set up as I now have an awd Ecoboost.
