The dam has broken for Mavericks at JCR. As I've long suspected the common under structure between the Sport and the Mav will provide some aftermarket parts being available. First useful piece I've found is this catalytic converter skid plate, Eco only. This part is listed as common for both trucks. For the sport this part connects to their under body skids to replace the felts. Hopefully they will soon develop those for the Mav.

It would be great to have something to replace the felt. I've already dropped $100 to replace one side...

So has anyone purchased one of these? Will it do the job and prevent or slow down the theft of a Maverick or Bronco Sport catalytic converter. Do the screws and bolts have proprietary designs that can't be removed with regular tools?

Screws are button heads as stated in the install video, uses a 3/16 allen/hex wrench.

So I contacted JCR for clarification on their Maverick skid plate. Following is their response:

Thanks for reaching out! Our Maverick catalytic converter skid plate would likely deter someone trying to quickly steal a catalytic converter; however, it is not designed to stop a determined thief with the right tools on hand- it's main function is for protection against contact. The skid plate is secured with 5/16 button head bolts and can be removed with a 3/16 hex. You could add locktite as an added security measure but that could also make things difficult when the time comes to remove it for servicing. I think generally a skid plate is going to have a thief looking for a more accesible catalytic converter. If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a great weekend!

So there may be tamper proof screw and bold heads that can be purchased and used with the skid plate making it more difficult to steal. If anyone tries this, please post your findings.

With Ford leaving so much not covered by the skid plates (if you have them at all) there should be a good market for add on skids.

I recently installed this and unfortunately it didn't fit properly, JCR was great to deal with and they are revising the design and will send me the revised version when it's ready. I did purchase stainless steel security button head torx fasteners to replace the hex head machine screws. You'll need 5/16"-18 button head screws that are 3/4" long if you want to add security torx. I also added some 18-8 stainless washers for more support.
