Picked up my Hybrid Mav about a month ago now after ordering in Early Nov 2021. When I picked up some other things up on Amazon, I found this $28 optic fiber trim light kit that was USB powered, not using the cigarette lighter since my front is used up by my Dashcam and the Front USB is also taken by Wireless android auto, and the Lariat has the standard power plug and not a second cigarette lighter in the back (also CBA to wire it with the included optional box to tie it to the car's lights). This was something I thought about doing with my previous vehicle but never did, and this was by no means a professional installation as I just used the included tool to jam it in seamlessly without needing to remove any trim pieces. I opted not to do the doors as I was worried having just the dash was already too tacky looking, I believe I made the right decision just taking the extra lights and placing them so they light up the footwells. In the end I think I looks pretty nice, debating about going back and seeing if I can do the small portion on the left driver side. Some of the photos make them seem like they're too bright, but in person they're not blinding.
Thoughts?

Forgot to add a couple picture of the light off during the day and lights on during the day. Definitely not bright, if you made a hole in the top of the dash to connect another LED on the other end of the filament it would brighten it some more. Cyan color to match the factory lights looks the cleanest in my opinion.

You got a link to the light kit you used for yours? I have been looking at them but still have not pulled the trigger. Your set up looks great.

Yeah I used this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09H63WJ6P?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Guess I should have made the link a bit more noticable. There are a bunch of different variations of this exact kit, some ranging from $20 up to $140, all using the same exact bulbs and controllers. Like I mentioned I use the USB power, there are cigarrette ones, but honestly about to hard wire it with the included optional power.

Nice. I'd considered doing similar on mine but the notion hadn't quite reached the top of my "silly cosmetic mods" expenditure list to go for it.

Believe it or not I did the exact same thing with my Maverick XL EcoBoost and I only did the trim around the passenger side, really the exact same part you did I don't have a RGB though mine is just blue with blue foot well in both front and back. I had The same reservations about looking tacky but believe it or not really during the day you can't necessarily tell it's there until it's night and then you hit you know I have it wired up to a hub underneath the climate control. I was getting ready to post pictures of my Maverick tonight - got mine November of 22 ordered it in December of 21

That is interesting. For this application, I like how it is fiber optic versus individually addressable LEDs. And has the full color palette. I would try to get as close to the ice blue of the switch lights.

I bought blue el-wire (that's what these products are called) from TEMU. It shipped from China directly and took about 10 days. TEMU sells a lot of the stuff I was buying for more at Amazon and tools from Harbor Freight too. Here's a rather long link to the el-wire:
Most of these newer style kits aren't true EL wire which utilizes a high-frequency AC transformer which is more old school, but rather are a simple LED and side-glow fiber optic. The LED approach has some limitations on length and the quality of emissivity can differ yet allows RGB. While EL wire is truly light emitting along its entire length, but can be a bit radio noisy and sometimes the transformer fails rather dramatically.

True, I think most sites are incorrectly calling it el-wire, but if you are looking for wire-like lighting, el-wire is the phrase to search.

How did you install the LED trim , or better ask how did you disassemble the dash to pass all the trim lights ? Any tools used or how to open the dash carefully?
