Too hot here in Florida to do many mods to the Maverick! A full size pallet fits nicely in the truck bed. I originally put a pallet in there in preparing for a long trip: the soft tonneau is excellent, but not water tight. The pallet was to keep luggage elevated above the bed liner in case of water flow.
Then I got the idea to cut off the first 2 boards. By doing this, I'm left with some room to put gas cans, grocery bags, etc., without them sliding to the front of the bed.
I then just place this cut out section on top of the existing section, to get it out the way, and when done, place it back on the floor of the bed. Problem solved!
