I went to see the 112,000 mile Maverick! Wear & tear condition report.

My post is in reference to this post, if you haven't seen it.

I was incredibly shocked by the mileage figure on the above post, and I live near the dealer, so I had to go see it from the perspective of a current Maverick owner at 10,000 miles. I also wanted to see if it really had that many miles, or if it was a typo or something. It's not!

The "bad":
There was some visible wear on the steering wheel in the 10 and 2 position. There was a ton of rock chips on the bumper and front of the hood, but that's expected. Tire tread looked worn, obviously. The carpet liners had visible wear but nothing bad. Seatbelt had a few frayed edges but nothing horrible.

The good:
Other than that, it looked perfect! The seats looked brand new, All dials and gear shifter looked perfect, paint was good, screen was perfect, very minimal wear on the soft plastics, etc.

I asked the dealer what the previous owner did with the truck to get so many miles, but I didn't get a straight answer. The Carfax says it was a single owner and a personal vehicle so I was really wondering, but no luck on an answer.

Before anyone asks, no, I didn't mention the criminal price tag.

Do you live in Roselle? That's where I grew up. At that price it might be around for awhile.

I still feel like it was an organ delivery vehicle. Or possibly some sort of professional Cannonballer. Actually that gives me an idea! Is a white Maverick XL hybrid with a 75 gallon fuel cell in the bed under a tonnauo cover the perfect Cannonball vehicle? Put a non descript "state" looking seal on the door and a small fleet number sticker on the bed and it will be invisible to police. It would not need to stop for fuel and could cruise through every state unnoticed.

I have a 75-mile (each way) commute to work, so five days a week plus other daily driving, I could probably get to 100k in two years, but one year, damn. Fortunately I only have that commute half the year.

Cannon ball theory holds up. 75 gallons would easily make the miles but the high speed would kill the mpg to like 30mph.

5 hr drive at highway per day. Guessing uber or deliveries. And needed reliable transportation so dumps EcoBoost at a year rinse and repeat. Good use for a 25k trucklet.

It seems strange that they would get rid of it after just a year, but if they do this for a living it would be hard to pass up having that much equity in a vehicle after 112k. Idk who the buyer might be at 30k, but best of luck to 'em. I think that dealer would take just about anything in trade, surprised there aren't any listings for horses or cattle

It could have been traded in - most likely it went to auction due to the extreme mileage.

The original owner probably picked it up at the Hermosillo plant and decided to take scenic route back home, driving it all the way down to the southern tip of South America and then driving back up on the opposite coast to the United States. By the time his ass got home, it probably already racket up 60k miles. I'm telling you, some individuals are crazy like that.

If we have any detectives here or someone with any connection seems like a way to get the scoop would be contact a few of these contacts - the most promising would be Jeff Barnes Auto I would say How many Ford Mavericks could / have they worked on ?????

If anyone has an order with Performance Ford in Clinton NC possibly one of their salesman might know. Next someone at Rick Hendrick Toyota might remember the truck with so many miles they sent to auction in December of 2022 - The owner had it registered in Lillington, NC - lastly if you have a cousin or relative in the service department of Capital Ford Of Lillington Lillington, NC Ill bet they would remember a truck that before even getting their plate had 22,000 miles in two months. If anyone lives in Fayetteville a visit to Rick Hendrick might give us the answers we need LOL

I wonder if its the same one I've seen as an escort vehicle for oversize load trailers. Seeing that it was in NC and the same color as the one I've seen multiple times, it makes me wonder even more if it is that same one. 500 miles a day, 5 days a week, roughly 45 weeks would be about right on the miles, too.

Either way, I agree.. time to order a good steering wheel cover
