Finally getting into busy season at my job so i’m starting to build my street Mav. Been scouring everywhere for decent used wheels. Came across this super clean staggered set of 360 wheels. Fronts will fit like an absolute glove, but 10” wide rears will give me a good old fashioned FoMoCo migraine. And I can’t help but think it’s sacrilegious to put Ferrari wheels on my Ford.
I bought the maverick last summer with the idea of turning into the cockiest mini truck of the 2020s. Budget for the build is around $15-20k, (I do everything but alignments in my garage so this will all be used on parts), and I was expecting to blow 1/3 of the budget on the wheels.
If these are ~$8k with less than an hour left I am going into a bidding war.
I wasn’t seriously considering this until I saw the bolt pattern was identical. Ferrari only used this pattern for a 5-10 year stretch. Gotta be a sign. Haters will say it’s impossible to tuck those fat rears under that perfectly angled fender on my sweet-sweet ‘24 lariat, but this is not my first rodeo. I’ve been making poor car modification choices since i was 15! 8 years later and I think my decision making got worse!
If I do somehow secure these relics, it’ll give me a reason to pop into a new body shop here in Denver that makes some insane custom fiberglass kits. That’ll probably take another $5k+ outta my budget, but it’ll force me to make a one-of-a-kind pony truck. And this will also help me get a decent ROI when I sell the mav in a couple years.
(Although nothing will beat the $11,000 profit i made on my 2019 GLI. Purchased for $17.5k, got her to stage 3 for around $6k, had it pushing 28lbs thru a golf r turbo, $1500 wheel setup. Put it up for auction, no reserve, and ended up getting $36,777 for it. I’m addicted to that thrill now.)
Anyway, I think putting Ferrari wheels on my Ford will symbolize new beginnings. We can’t dwell on beef from the past, we have to co exist! Maybe Enzo’s kid will see it and realize Mini Trucks are MFin’ back!!
I’m putting an end to a generational feud myself! I’ll be more well known in Italy than Tony Soprano!
Jokes aside, wish me luck. I may not be able to eat for a few weeks depending on how high the hammer price gets. But this opportunity only comes once in a lifetime, and everything at the grocery store is buy one get two free in the self checkout line
