So now I have 500 miles on the original tank of gas from the dealer, 60% city, 40% hwy in normal drive mode. I drive pretty conservatively but am not trying to milk the mileage. So it’s clear at this point that I can get a little over 600 miles per tank. Your driving style and terrain will certainly affect what you get.

Ford Maverick Hybrid mileage at 500 miles: 44.9 MPG (600+ miles per tank) 821194AD-9D11-42DD-B3A0-24C28024F741

Picked it up from the dealer with five miles on the odometer and full tank…

I have just over 125 miles on mine right now and still have over 3/4 tank, so things bode pretty well so far.
I’m exactly where you are. After 125 miles I’m getting 39.8.

Got any exact idea what the electric miles really means ? Does it mean that out of the total miles (503 miles) on that tank. 230.7 miles of it were on electric only mode ? Using NO gas during those 230.7 miles. If so thats pretty impressive.

According to TFL the hybrid true mPG is only 85% of the onboard indicated.

This makes 45*.85= 38mpg. Which is right on point with EPA.

503-231= 272
272/44.9= 6gallon of gas used

Many variables involved but we can very roughly guess that without the help of electric motors the 2.5L would get about 1/2 the mpg which is 20Mpg...hmmm...this kinda suggest that the 2.0 turbo with the same hybrid setup should give even better MPG...may be?

One poorly done mileage test done at high elevation in a pre-production truck can hardly be assumed as reliable across the spectrum.

My Bronco is getting built on 1/17 - I ran cost of ownership between the Mav and the Bronco. My Mav is 23,575 and the Bronco is 42,555. $19k in upfront cost BUT when you look at fuel spend over 120k miles @ $3.30/gal - It's about $11,000 more in fuel to drive the Bronco over that time period.

Can't wait for the Mav.

How is the test poorly? They used the same method many adopted to calculate actual mpg. Ford is notorious for optimistic indicated MPG and they admitted to it. My production 2.7L and Ethan powerboost F150 has optimistic indicated numbers when checked agaisnt at the pump.

I'm not saying Ford got it right. Way too early to tell. The tank for the hybrid is pressurized and relies on not being overfilled. They overfilled intentionally to be "fair," like they always do, but that can negatively impact performance of sensors and tank performance of pressurized tanks.

Sorry if I miss understood your point, but Steve is giving us his "Real World" 60%/40% driving experience. If we assume he finishes his tank with 630 miles on a 13.8 gal tank his Hybrid Truck mileage = 45.6 MPG

I love the TFL guys, but remember they are in the mile high country and they get reduced mileage.
