I m with ya, i would recomend having a back up plan, then when you go to dealership just remove it before you take your Mav there.

I got the impression that the dealership has to use Ford parts, especially something like this.

Another sennerio enters my mind, if its band-aided, and say 80000m and 3 yrs later. Something reoccurs. Then we either have to repair it ourselves or pay Ford to fix it.

Fix it right, fix it good for the life of the vehicle.
Thinking about this, crimp, heat shrink, call it a day.

There is plenty length on the cable to do this repair.

That is exactly what is needed, it does both AL and CU. Good find!

Chris, you going to let yours fail, i am just riding it out to see what happens before i act. Its like 105 here and tough to get outside to work.

I have solder, heatshrink, crimpers.

Just too hot outside, plus seeing what becomes of this fault and the dealership repairs.

I'm gonna let it fail.
I will vise grip it as an emergency repair. Then fix it properly to hide the evidence. I suspect there will be a recall.

Thats what i was thinking, hide it, we still have to figure out if it includes other connections on the harness.

Found this on FB. Recently repaired dead hybrid. I haven’t seen it posted here yet. If this is yours, I hope you don’t mind it being shared.

So they have an acronym for the repair..BCE..i dont know if this satisfy me. As someone else pointed out, if 1 is defect, why wouldnt the other connections be defective?

If this is the repair/solution, i really am going to do my own repair!

Chris, you hit that one. You know on customer pay they kick their labor hours up higher then the book time.

I bet they could get $1000 to put the lug on, $500 troubleshooting, electrical testing $400, parts$90.

Sad to have the industry develop this reputation. The small town Ford dealer near me is building a new showroom, puts the Taj Mahal to shame. It's good to have a small, honest, independent shop nearby for things that are outside what can be reasonably done at home.

Cheers.

Assuming you did Not buy one of these yet? I'm not sure if the stud hole size is large enough looking at it.
We have these where I work, but they are only Copper Tinned CU, not Aluminum rated. I still have yet to see it posted anywhere if this cable is Copper or Aluminum? I have seen posts where their dealer used a copper lug.

I figured I could drill the hole out to fit.
Yes, I purchased one from Anazon for $7 as opposed to Home depot for $12. The lug has noalox inside barrel.
