Husky Hood Bug Deflector?

So I ordered the AVS Bugflector II from a highly rated E-Bay seller because everywhere else the model for the Maverick was sold out, it arrived today and it seems to be a Husky branded bug deflector instead. However, it mounts the same way and overhangs above the headlamps like the AVS, the holes also line up with the gasket holes under the hood.

I can’t find mention of anyone here using the Husky branded deflectors, so what are your thought? Anyone have one? Do you like it? Should I try installing this one or return it? I already contacted the seller to see what he says.

The only thing I don’t like about this one is it requires you to adjust hood bumper height adjusters slightly and it wants you to put the little bumpers that protect the bug guard from rubbing into your hood if it bends inwards on the hood itself. If I keep it I would mount it to the back of the bug deflector itself.

Does it cover the front edges of the fender ? If it does , I would probably ask for a discount since it wasn't what you ordered . I don't have any pads you mentioned . my bugflector is about 1/2 inch to 1 inch away from hood and fender edges . far enough to get rag or small sponge behind to clean Hood and fender edges .

So I talked to the seller and according to him, AVS was bought out by Husky and he didn’t have a chance to update the listing, that would explain why everyone who carried the AVS bug deflector didn’t have any in stock.

I didn’t install mine yet but lining it up with the gasket holes, it looks like it should clear the hood like yours and give full frontal coverage above the headlamps too.

So I will install it and see how it looks.

That is a handy feature but I actually found out my Maverick has the front facing camera that shows me video on my Infotainment System screen when I get close to something.

Just an update, that AVS Bugdeflector II being bought out by Husky was true, I installed it and it looks/fits just like the AVS while giving the same coverage. One thing that differs is the mounting holes are not the wide slotted style but just a regular drilled hole, however, the holes lined up perfectly with the gasket holes under the hood.

The only thing they recommended was pasting the rubber bumpers (They protect the bug guard from flexing and rubbing on the paint) onto the hood itself, I did not like this so I pasted them on the back of the bug deflector, I flexed the guard myself to see where it rubbed and used that as a guide on mounting the 4 bumpers.

Also the mounting hardware didn't fully crank down and stop rotating like other anchors I installed, which concerned me, however the bug guard doesn't vibrate when I take the truck up to 90 MPH so it seems solid.

The other thing I didn't like is I had to adjust the hood leveler bumpers above the grill to accommodate the extra thickness of the bug guard. It took a trial/error to get it right, after the first time my hood had a minor shake at higher speeds. A second adjustment fixed this. However this is just the nature of the beast and don't take points off for having to do this.

Last thing I didn't like is the mounting hardware doesn't have clips on it to clip the hood gasket onto it, thankfully the gasket doesn't hang but I wasn't a big fan of losing 4 out of 8 anchor points for the gasket, I wish the manufacturer took this into account when designing the mounting hardware.

Beyond those minor things, I am happy with the final product, install time for me was about 45 minutes which includes adjusting the hood level bumpers. I would recommend this product if you guys cannot find the older AVS Bugdeflector II as its the same thing.

I remember having clear bug deflectors that the back side was PTM'd on my early 2000 trucks when they were new.

I'm honestly surprised they're still around these days and don't ever see him around my parts I would invest in quality PPF before a a hood bug deflector.

Sounds like they have not got everything converted over to new packaging and marketing yet. Hope the product itself doesn't change after AVS finally got it right. The early AVS ones for the Maverick had problems with the holes not lining up. I think it's one of only a couple available at the moment that actually deflect bugs from the windshield rather than just protecting the front of the hood.

Would you like to see if from other angles? Part of the reason I went with this one is it seemed to provide superior coverage over other bug guards.

Problem is PPF is insanely expensive, I looked into getting all of the front end done, including the A-Pillers and the roof above the windshield but that's over $3000. I would like to have done that because my state loves to throw these tiny stones all over the roads, I am hoping with this and staying back from people in the winter I can avoid most of the stones.

They do not have new packaging yet, in fact the bug deflector came in a generic cardboard box. I didn't realize it wasn't the AVS until I got to the little bag that held the hardware. I also saw the Youtube video on installing the AVS and saw those concerns, I even saw that people needed to take a heat gun to a section of plastic that goes under the hood and change the angle of it by reshaping it, it seems the hood wouldn't close otherwise.

However, from what I read here and elsewhere, those issues were resolved by 2023-2024. Gladly those issues didn't plague me.
