2016 Prius driver here. I've driven it about 45,000 miles and lifetime average is 61.1 MPG. Clearly I do more city driving than highway, but I have taken it on several long road trips as well. I know I'll be taking a bit of a hit in the MPG area with the Maverick, but I also hope to be able to beat its targeted 40 MPG (my Prius is rated at 52 MPG combined).

My daily driver/commuter is a 2011 Lexus CT200h hybrid. I love the car, and wouldn't have swapped it out (except maybe for a Prius wagon) before the Maverick was unveiled with the hybrid powertrain. If I drive the Lexus right, I can eek out 45mpg combined city/highway, 47.5mpg if all city, and 42mpg if all highway.
Nice! CT200h here, also. Has a sound system and swapped the front to the newer spindle bumper/grill. Love this car and get the same mileage you do, roughly. JUST replaced the original brake pads at 135k miles. Regen braking is the best.

Also had a 2009 Escape hybrid we loved. Way more utility in that one because of its boxy shape. Swallowed up washers and dryers and other randomness we never thought would fit.

The CT200h is very underrated, especially as a commuter. Mine has ~96K miles on it and could probably use new suspension/tires, but the engine and transmission have been perfect. I never owned an older Escape hybrid, but drove them a bunch for work, along with a Prius or two, a Fusion hybrid, Accord hybrid and Sentra hybrid (fleet cars). Always liked the driving experience of the Fords the best.

Do you hear the engine turn on once the battery charge is depleted?

I bought a 2013 Prius C new and we still have it. No problems with it. Just normal maintenance.

Totally agree! We just did some maintenance stuff that was due, but all-in-all, a very solid car.

I’ve owned a 2014 Cmax, 2011 fusion hybrid, 2010 Prius, 2009 Camry hybrid. I liked all of those except the Prius (it was so slow). I liked both Ford hybrids just a bit more than Toyota. I’m trying to decide between a Rav4 prime and the maverick. If the maverick was a plug in it would be a no brainer. Driving my 2006 Ridgeline for now since I just sold my cmax.

I had a Lincoln MKZ hybrid and am now driving a Honda Accord Hybrid. I like them and being a cheap geezer, I want another hybrid.

I had a 2020 Toyota Avalon Limited Hybrid. I just recently (3,300 miles ago) traded it for a 2021 Lexus ES300h Ultra Luxury.

I have had several hybrids, and by far the best thing about them is not having to fill up the gas tank so often. Pairing a hybrid with a small truck is a match made in heaven. My prediction is that this is the most important new model for Ford since the F150. It will be as significant as the Pinto (which sold millions).

... My 2018 Ford Fiesta... suffers from why-the-hell-don't-you-drive-me-on-the-freeway-itus. I can't wait to drive something to work at 35mph basically silently...
You want a plug-in hybrid. It would love a 3 mile commute.

Hybrids have a version of WTHDYDMOTF-itus, known as ICE warm-up. The shorter the trip, the more of it is under ICE power. 3 miles is killer. The ICE won't shut off if you have cold winters. Not trying to shoot you down, but rather set a realistic expectation. You might want to wait for the plug-in... I'm waiting for Hybrid AWD!

2017 Fusion and was my first hybrid. 35 mile commute and has run flawlessly. Quiet and smooth ride. You first time hybrid buyers should be happy.
