I have been kicking the crap out of the Ford MPG numbers of 33 and 42 for 37 avg. I am averaging 42+ MPG over my last 10k miles. That is approximately 40 percent hwy and 60 city. In the city, I am consistently 50-70 MPG...I'm talking a small city, 30k people, so traffic and lights accordingly. Crazy numbers and very happy to have the hybrid

I am in a rural area, mostly driving 60mph around here. Hilly. Not the most ideal area for getting high mpg w/ a hybrid, but I have averaged 40mpg in my first 3,000 miles!

fuelly.com has some figures.
I'm getting 44 MPG long-term average. Smooth throttle inputs help the software algorithms figure out exactly what to do (charge battery, split power between engine & electrical motors, etc.). I do use the Cruise Control when I can, which is usually better than a nervous foot.

I think part of the valve spring failure (carbon build up) is due to the nursing of that throttle that we all Hybrid owners like to do. Full open throttle will help with this build up. Until Ford puts stronger valve springs and or create a setting to burn off this build up.

But ya 45 is my average MPG 9 miles each way 18 miles total a day all street no highway.

I think hilly is almost as good as city. The coasting downhill and powering uphill mimics city traffic. I'd like to get out of Illinois and looking at the Ozarks which is a lot of ups and downs.

Not sure how accurate on-board estimate is, but we're sitting at 49.2mpg after 3k miles. The one time I let the tank get below 1/8 full, we were at 600 miles already. Probably 60/40, street to highway miles. Almost all the highway miles are my wife commuting to work, she has a led foot and zero concern for fuel efficiency.

First 5k miles and thus far I'm averaging over 45 mpg combined (probably 70/30 city/highway split) and my usual surface street only work commute I'm pushing 53-60 mpg.
