Just me or everyone...

Since I got delivery of my 23 last year my heated steering wheel is operating in a way that doesn't resemble my previous vehicles. When i turn it on the wheel gets very hot very quickly then over the next 5 minutes the heating seems to disappear. Usually you turn on the heat on a steering wheel and it's a gradual warming that appears to remain on until you turn it off. But on my maverick it just seems to go away or at least turn itself down from say a 10 to a 2 after a couple minutes. Anyone else?

Is this a glitch? And is there a fix? Or is this touted by Ford as some sort of "smart heating" or some bull like that?

Anyone know?

Normal. I love the way it works because I'm an old geezer with creepy cold hands. Nothing like that warm wheel right off the bat when I get into the car. My wife's Volvo's steering wheel heat is much more sophisticated, but I like it less. I like that quick shot of heat, followed by dialing it back a lot.

Yea this is how mine goes. I think it basically sets heat to "max" for the first minute or so and then goes down to an average to maintain the heat level

thx guys. I was hoping it was a "feature" not an "issue." Thx for the reinforcement.

Mine does the same and I hate it as well.
I wish it could be like other cars where it warms up and just stays medium-warm.

This is my first vehicle with heated steering wheel, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I like it. The max heat right off the bat is really what I'm looking for, since it gets pretty damn cold where I live and the steering wheel feels like ice after the truck has been parked for a while. After the steering wheel has warmed up, I usually just turn the heat off.

I'm happy with how it works. I don't care to hold onto a hot wheel. I just don't want it to be cold. ;)

It's just a bit dumb compared to other vehicles where it heats up to a temperature and stays there.

I'm pretty sure the people happy with the current heated steering would be happier with conventional heated steering in other cars like Toyotas.

The Maverick I have currently (and previous Escape before it) both functioned the same way you are describing. Not at all how the heated steering wheel operated in my previous Tacoma or RAM. I didn't have one in the my F150. There were barely noticeable fluctuations but not to the degrees it happens in these vehicles. They seem to have a temperature threshold that is set very high and then to regulate it cuts it off entirely, then back on again. Why not just find the medium? Same with the seat warmers but I only use those for the first minute or two of a drive anyways. Ventilated seats I would use for longer drives... man I miss those.

quick warm up is perfect. by the time I'm belted, taking off my gloves and going into drive it's warm enough to shut off. hardly an issue.

My hybrid Lariat steering wheel heats as you described - fast and high heat then almost nothing. I turn it of and back on again.

My wife's Lexus heats evenly and to a moderate temp, stays that way.

Yeah, the Maverick heated wheel sucks. Feels great for 5-10min and then shuts off, despite the light staying on.

Mine does that too but it's Okay. The wheel cools a bit just as the cab warms up so it works for me.
