Are you surprised that MOST XL buyers would say "I made a great decision" versus "I was a total DA for buying an XL"? I love the comments it's 2 grand for wheels. Much more difference between trims than that. You can put wheels on an XL but it is not a XLT, Lariat, Tremor, Lobo. I remember guys putting Crager SS wheels on inline 6s back in the day but they still were grocery getters.
There are a few differences besides the usual stated aluminum wheels:

As far as how it appeals to me:

Wheels. I think the standard XL wheels are ok, but I prefer other options. For $800 I bought these wheels, which I think look much better.

Power mirrors. They are included in the CP360 package mandatory with the 4K tow. I would want these, but wouldn't buy an XL without CP360.

Keyless start. I prefer the old fashioned key, that is harder to steal than using a fob. Living near the city, they love to steal vehicles with fobs that the can clone in seconds.

Power tailgate lock. Would be nice, but not required. My gate does lock with the key. I can add this if I really wanted it.

Bed Cubby. I already have one. Bought for $20 or $30 off a forum member who even dropped it off. Thanks HRG.

More tie downs. I added the eye bolt tie downs to my 23 bed holes for like $10. Never needed them once. A nice upgrade, but for me not needed.

Blue and gray seats. No thanks. XL seats are ebony/charcoal. Much nicer to my taste. My dog doesn't need the fold down armrest. Only 2 people in my house.

That's pretty much it for what the XLT gives over the XL. For 25 they both even use the same grille.

So for me, Zero advantage or incentive to buy the XLT. I do like The Lariat headlights, but would not want 19" wheels. Tire choices are limited and expensive for them. 18" is perfect. Also not a fan of vinyl seats, or the bright colors used in the Lariat.

I went XLT for the cruise control.
On a long road trip, it is a Godsend.
You must be a 22 owner. Every Maverick since has included cruise as standard.

I hate the front of the 2025 so bought a 2024. Everyone should buy what they like for the reasons that they have. But the posts about changing wheels on a XL and now it's just like a tremor, lobo, Lariat, XLT is delusional. I didn't want to add the things that weren't in it like Sirius radio. As to the theft part I have insurance, it's just a vehicle, and as long as I'm not in it they can steal it. You're correct though to steal an xl they have to Jimmy the door.

I am with LSchicago on this one.
So far, I absolutely do not regret my choice.
In regard to the seats: Are they just a different fabric or are the bolsters / cushions different as well? Don't have a comparison.

My XL doesn't have the power mirrors and at first I was pretty annoyed about this, but then I got to thinking about it and realized that in all the years of driving my old truck I only ever used the power mirrors once: the first time I adjusted them for myself. Unless you have multiple people driving the same vehicle the mirrors are kind of a set and forget thing. Same goes for seat positioning for that matter, but I've never had a vehicle with power seats so I have no experience there.

I feel the 2025 front end is more upscale looking. They designed the headlights to look like the bulls horns. Maverick. Yes that is fitting. But looks are subjective. Some say the 69 Mustang was the best looking year. Others thing that a different year was.

I would never think changing to aftermarket wheels look like an XLT, Tremor, or Lobo. It's not a direct comparison. But I love the wheels I choose, and feel the look better than XLT, Lariat, Lobo, or tremor wheels ON MY TRUCK. Which is all that matters to me. I don't want it to look like any of those trims. I prefer making it mine.

As far as XM, it is standard on all 25's. I turned in on to verify. But never listened to it. XM has poor quality steaming that cuts off the high frequencies. And no play lists to build. Spotify works much better for me.

I love all the refinements, upgrades, and the extra power/capabilities of the 25.

But ultimately we each buy what we want/need/desire. As long as your truck works for you and mine works for me, that makes us happy.

Just different fabric for the XL to XLT front seats. And the 25 seats got better bolsters than previous years.

I don't do any streaming service, playlist etc because I am older then Moses. You are correct though you made your truck look like you want. That is the key here. You bought what you wanted. I have issues with the comments that they bought the xl "then made it a higher trim so you people are stupid for paying for it". I bought F150 STX, Silverado Custom, a 1992 Ranger XLT that had manual windows, no AC, no power anything, the big features of it was rear jump seats, power brakes, cruise control and a split bench seat, manual flip out rear windows. So the LARIAT is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned and at 66 I deserve to have what I want without condescension just as you do. Not saying you are condescending, but many others are. Your truck looks great.

I am going to regret jumping in here - but everyone has a preference and is it right to tear each other's choices down?
The question was "does anyone regret getting an XL?"
Those of us who got them made our own choice. Those who selected the XLT, Lariat made their choice. Let's just be happy for each other with each other's choices instead of telling each other why their choice was wrong.

Okay - now you can skip the rest unless you want to know why I made my XL decision.
I took 4 months comparing the XLT to the XL before ordering. I compared base pricing and the options that I wanted. The options i wanted were the identical for both models.
I chose the XL because I honestly could not live with that orange highlights in the cab and I did like the darker interior of the XL. (No BAP in 2022.)
I knew the 22 XL did not have cruise. I really wanted cruise! However I also knew that I would have a year wait for delivery. So I gambled that by the time I got my truck there would be an aftermarket solution. There was! And then there was an OEM/Forscan solution!
The options I added (again regardless of the model), CP360, 400w interior inverter and the tow hitch.
The option price for CP360 was the same for both models, the XL got more bang for its buck as it included power mirrors. That just reinforced my reason to avoid the orange color :)

I have been able to make the truck "me" by adding wheels, bed cubbys, tailgate lock, fog lights, etc. My budget was the XLT cost, however with all of the things I have added to my XL, I am still under the XLT price. I actually created a spreadsheet tracking my costs/addons. If you were to look at my truck, you would know it was an XL ONLY because of my custom rear fender "XL" graphic and the faux front vents with the "XL" badge.

I am basically bragging that I do have an XL and I love it!

Good post! At the end of the day we all chose the same truck which is why we're in the same club. I respect everyone's trim choices because we all made the right decision when we bought a Maverick!

I am on a road trip right now in the midwest. As I am still waiting for my ManBearPig Mav to be built I was Maverick spotting today on my way through MO/IA/IL. Lots of Mavericks out there on the road. It is funny I never noticed them until now. Very strange how that works.

One thing I did notice today was lots of the original Ford Rangers out on the road. A few really nice ones. And I have to admit I wish Ford had offered something like that instead of what we got with the Maverick. Compared to those old Rangers the Maverick is a bloated luxury mobile even in XL trim!

My needs for this truck are simple so something simple like the old school Ranger would have been a good fit. My ears perked up when I heard about the Slate, but they want way too much for way too little capability. So the ManBearPig Mav is the next best thing. Even if it is a bit more than foofie than I need. LOL The XL has not been too "work truck ish", but I do think it is great if I lose my job I can pick up a another hustle slinging car parts or something. I'll already have the truck ordered for it. ROFL

When I was a child my dad owned a 1970 Ford Maverick. We were poor people and my dad managed to buy this poor old car from someone. It has been in a wreck. The drivers side rear quarter panel and rear bumper were really crushed in pretty bad. The trunk lid was held down with some wire. Dad managed to cobble the wiring and stuff so that the lights worked. The whole car was a mess and as bare bones basic as a vehicle can get. It was an inline six cylinder with a manual choke. Someone had put a glass pack muffler on that thing and you could hear it coming from several blocks away. It was a rolling wreck. But you know that was probably the best $50 ever spent on a old wreck of a car. It got my dad to work and home. If we went fishing the Maverick was the car to take with that big gaping open crushed up trunk any fish smell was no problem. My dad drove that car for YEARS and I still think of it and him fondly. If this ManBearPig Mav is anywhere near as good a vehicle as that old original Maverick was to our family I will be quite happy. I remember where I come from. I am thankful. XL and all...
