My bed is covered and I use these bins from Menards which are less than $15.00. I can easily fit 3 bins in the bed and when not in use, they can be stacked and stored in the bed. Whatever you put in the bins, it has handles and you can carry groceries inside. Line your bed with these open bins and dump mulch directly into them. No more shoveling large amounts, just lift and carry.

There is still plenty of room for water, soda, extra large bags of pet food, etc. I have 4 bins and I can put 1 in the back seat if needed. Otherwise you can stack 2 high in your bed, more if you don't have a cover. Again, they have handles and you can carry the whole thing in the house. I have to slide them around because I'm not tall enough to reach over towards the front. You can take the bins into the store for your bulk shopping like Sam's Club or any other place that you have to bag/box your own items.

If you turn them 90°, would you be able to fit 4 in the back?

For those of us who aren't blessed to have a Menards in driving distance, I found a similar sized bin at Home Depot:

BTW, I did look at Lowes, but the Home Depot offering appears to be closest to the Menards offering.

I have the one from Home Depot. I will throw it in the bed when I'm going to BJ's so that I have somewhere to throw all the loose packages.

My Menards bins might be larger. I can only fit a total of 3 bins, but there is plenty of area space left over for larger items. - DawnH
