I'm 68 and approaching retirement. Been self employed since 27 years old. I am now a backflow tester (look it up). Able to arrange my own schedule and work only when i want. My "I got lucky" name didn't come from my sexual conquests but rather from the fact that I was able to walk up to a Ford Dealer and drive a 2023 Hybrid Maverick off the lot. I was totally lucky. The guy that ordered it 9 months earlier got tired of waiting and got another vehicle. I walked up to the salesman that had just lost the sale. I got lucky!
Loving it so far. Averaging about 36-37 mpg. I'm still learning about it and trying to figure out how to read the batter/power dashboard.

Congratulations from a fellow Texan. I am somewhat in your shoes in that I work when I want to work. Been a remodel contractor or else training contractors for 30 years, but now cut way back and just have a couple of crews who work when I want to take work. I am 76, so got you by a few years. Have two Maverick Lariats. My wife has an XLT and I have a Hybrid. Love them both, but there is a learning curve with the hybrid. Someone on the forum posted a trick that really works on the highway and it made 3-5 mpg difference. When using cruise control (if 70 or under) goose the gas pedal if you are going downhill or on a flat area. It will then move to electric mode and stay there until you hit another hill. I jumped from 38 to a solid 42. City still does from 47 to 50.

What part of the Lone Star State are you in, and where did you find the dealer?

Define goose, lol. I generally know what it means, but it doesn’t make sense to step on the gas when going downhill or flat. I guess I just don’t understand the concept.
I am 30 miles north of Dallas. The dealership was in McKinney.
