The small lens of a smartphone camera causes spherical distortions (or pincushion) toward the outer area of an image. One way to mitigate this unwanted side effect is to stand much further away and zoom in.

You will see a similar effect with small group portraits shot on a smartphone camera where the people standing near the extreme left or right side and slightly closer to the camera lens will appear larger and skewed.

Here is an example of pincushion effect in a group portrait.

Now the advantage is I have had two. One running Normal mode and the other Eco. 3 to 5 mpg difference in favor of Eco
