There’s no such thing as a mechanic in a bottle.
I’ve used fuel system cleaners in the past but no longer because I’ve never felt them make any difference.
Again, my 2008 Taco with the 2.7 liter 4 banger. Severe duty in the central Florida heat and humidity.
It started loosing compression at 528,000 miles. Not once did I ever poor additives of any kind in the tank or in the oil. Not one single engine problem.

I wore it out.

If he uses Top Tier fuel, performs timely maintenance and oil changes, that Techron stuff isn't needed.

@$6 per bottle every 3-4,000 miles it will help keeps the intake valves clean.

Chevron chemists invented the amine chemical specifically to work on GDI engines.

Cheap insurance.

And you don't have to question my maintenance upkeep... likely better than 99% of most here.

Chevron developed an additive to clean intake valves that are upstream of the injectors? How does that work?

Techron is a great product, but don't expect it to do much more than clean injectors and combustion chambers in a GDI engine.

Techron was developed with PEA in 1981. How many GDI engines were on the road at that time?

Perhaps the formula has changed since '81?

And clean valve heads and combustion chambers are a bad thing?

I'm not sure why you would think that's a bad thing.
