The dealership is charged for a tank of fuel on the invoice. The customer should not have to pay anything extra for the fuel

It is separate from the destination fee.

Maybe a Maverick was sold @ invoice and they were just breaking down the charges? That is the only reason I can think of for it being listed on the buyers order.

No.

That's part of the invoice cost. It changes occasionally (weekly? monthly?) based on gas prices, but the MSRP can remain the same.

So there may be a bunch of Mavericks w/ an MSRP of $24,620, but with different invoice prices based on the price of gas when the vehicle was "invoiced" (usually a week or two before the build date).

My dealer filled up my tank as well. I have 500 miles on the first tank and about 120something till empty. I'm going to get over 600 miles on my first tank. Crazy. Feels like I've been driving it forever and I haven't put any gas in it yet.

The fuel charge ends up on the invoice amount, not the MSRP amount. Now if they honored the original build price, it's possible you might not get the full tank. I attached the original build sheet and the dealer build sheet after it came in. MSRP went up $890. I believe Ford locks buyers into original pricing even if costs go up after it comes in. In my case, original fuel on invoice was $57. My dealer said he put about $50 in. $57x $5.15=11 gallons. That explains why I got 3/4 tank of fuel. Sure they could had put an extra $20 in, but I am not going to cry about it. I got what I paid for.

In the past, I received a full tank of gas before leaving the dealer. Is this still a common practice of dealers today?

I received a full tank on delivery from Long McArthur and a day later they sent a tin of cookies…

Do you trust the lowest ranking person in the department to drive your new vehicle and fill it up?

For me, the answer is no. I don't even trust them driving it around on the lot or servicing it lol.

Your window sticker says the truck comes with a full tank. If they didn’t, they didn’t give you what you purchased.

My window sticker says gasoline not included.
