That's beside the point.

I can't speak to Toyota's, you'd have to ask them. I do know that the Ford hybrid system is extremely similar to the Toyota's in many ways.

The ICE-only powertrain is not "immune" to fuel vapor offgassing issue, its just handled differently, by using a charcoal canister that is not under a slight vacuum, though I seem to recall that most 1996 and later fuel systems can and do use a slight vacuum to test for evap-system leaks.

Yet again, if there was not a technical reason to need to put the hybrid fuel system under a slight vacuum, Ford wouldn't be doing it.

I'm not going to entertain arguments over whether or not Ford made a good design decision here, that's more properly between you and Ford. You want to nitpick it, I don't. They have contact information, use it.

It doesn't "need" to be there by virtue of being a hybrid, but Ford realizes one buys the hybrid largely because they want more fuel efficiency. So they added the fuel system pressurization to that end.

Also one really has to appreciate the irony of considering an electronic release fuel door extravagantly complicated on a vehicle with all of the intersystem complexity of a hybrid.

People like the guy you replied to are either just scared shitless by modern technology for no good reason, or they're willfully intentional luddites. Admitting that there is a built-in backup method, clearly outlined in the owner's manual would damage their narrative, so they ignore it.
New cars have up to 4 different networks running everything from the dome lights, to the airbags, to the turn signals, to the engine. Most gas pedals are now connected electronically to the engine control module. The Maverick has electric adaptive power steering. And here we are getting all worked up over an electric gas cap door. :D

I agree wholeheartedly. There are much better things to get worked up about.
