Found a new MY 2023 Maverick at a local dealer with the options I wanted and the price I would pay. They messed up the wire transfer so, at least for now, the money is still in my account and I am driving a free Maverick. Guess they will figure it out soon. Should I ask for a couple more free oil changes if I straighten it out for them? :)

Congrats on your "free" Mav. I think an extra oil change or two would be fair for your efforts to help them out. Of course, they may still own the truck and find someone willing to pay more than you "offered"! Just kidding!!;)

Watch for flashing red and blue lights in your rear view mirror since your driving a stolen vehicle.;)

LOL, I guess my current (2023) Mav was "free" too . . . for about 30 minutes. The dealership was really busy when I purchased mine in May, since they had a number of other retail orders being picked up the same day. To expedite the process after the test drive, they had me sign all the paperwork, handed me my copies along with the keys, and told me to just drop off the check I was going to get from a local credit union.

I guess they thought they could trust me - maybe because I provided them with the MY23 Maverick Order Guide and Pricelist (thank you MTC!) on the first day the Order Banks were open in September 2022? Apparently Ford had not provided that information to them, and they were very appreciative to have it during the very short (and chaotic) order window last year. :D

I was handed both sets of keys as soon as I walked in the door. We went out to the lot to check it out, and then I had to sit around and wait for the finance person for quite a while due to some drama that was happening at the time in the dealership. I joked when I got in the finance office that I could have just driven off with it.

Some places take a xerox copy of your DL before giving you keys for a test drive. Some don't! During covid peak; they didn't even ride in the car with you.

Even in big cities in CA.

Even with the photocopy, how easy is it to get a fake ID?

Amazing!

I guess they figure they are insured and 99.99% of people won't rip them off.

My Maverick was also FREE.
Half came from my son's inheritance and half from my daughter's inheritance.
Cost to me . . . . ZIP!

That will be their choice. One family dispute that I'll not be called on to settle.

Sorry folks for not including a picture of my 23 maverick. I was baby sitting my 4 year old grandson for the last few days. Harder than working.
Continuation of the process that led to my (temporarily free) Maverick: I had saved up the cash for the transaction but the dealer was really pushing a Ford loan at 7%. I didn't want any part of it but they suggested I could take the loan and put 90% down and pay the remaining 10% when I got my first bill without paying any interest. They offered to knock about $500 more off the price from what we had already negotiated. I took it. The dealer said they are allowed more new cars the more they use the loan path. I didn't care but it knocked more $$ off of the price and I don't have to pay any interest. it worked for me.

When the dealership calls just tell them they must have been part of the big cyberattack that took down hotels in Las Vegas recently also. You have no idea where the money is, but it's not in your account and shows it was sent to them .....
