Ford officially unveiled the F150 Rattler earlier today. Looks they intend it to be a base off-road trim by using an XL and adding off-road items to it. No pricing yet, but one article says they want to stay under $40,000 starting. While I have a Maverick hybrid on order, if I could get a 4x4 F150 crew-cab for less than $40k with some bells and whistles thrown in, I may have to jump on it. Especially since I still don't have a build date yet.

Short of places like Chapman or Granger offering some deep discounts I doubt you'll see it below $40k. More likely starting $45k MSRP considering it's basically a combination FX4+STX and supposedly requiring at least the EcoBoosts or V8.

Yes, that's why I'm interested in seeing what the price is. You can't even build an XL Crew Cab 4x4 without any options for less than $42k. Of course, The F150 Lighting starts at $40k and is standard 4x4 Crew Cab, so maybe they can do it.

I'm excited for my hybrid Maverick, but if I plan to eventually upgrade to a full-size pickup and that looks like it would be a great deal

Is it just me or is "rattler" a terrible name to bestow upon a vehicle?

What's next, the Ford Limona?

(Many, many moons ago had an Audi 100LS I dubbed the Limona Special. Among its multitudinous eccentricities was a smart rattle. That is to say one that would disappear if it came within 15 feet of a mechanic.)

I remember awhile back when Ford announced the name “Rattler” people here were hoping it was going to be a off road package for the Maverick.

I was estimating for Extd Cab. Crew Cab commensurately more. And that wasn't even factoring once you start talking options like tow hitch or bedliner. I suppose at least it could still be cheaper than an XLT FX4 with a bit more bragging rights of a fancy name package.
