Hello to all the others who bought a mav from granger , or have just been following the thread out of curiosity.
I am from Iowa, I have read how people have ordered from granger, picked up their mavs, got on the interstate, and headed home.
Now let me be honest. Where I live, right in the middle of the state, it's not real scenic. Its mostly just mile after mile of farm fields. The interesting, scenic places tend to be along the boarder rivers, and the major interior rivers.
Today I went to Iowa city for Thanksgiving a day early with family. Thanksgiving day I will be working.
I took pictures, lots and lots of pictures. I was about halfway to Iowa city, a little east of Tama, Iowa when I started. I followed the Iowa river corridor. First stop, It's called Otter creek, and is one of my favorites. There is an observation deck built in the shape of an eagle with a free spotting scope for bird watching. Then a stop in Belle Plain to get a picture of the old train station.
On down the road a five or 10 miles. It's another of my favorites. A nature arra along the river. It's the only place in Iowa I ever caught a northern pike and it was over 2 foot long.
Next was one of the Amana colonys, then down by the river again. Like a lot of places we have drought conditions. There's little water in the Iowa river. Still, there was a pretty good mud hole where people have been playing in the mud with 4x4's. I looked at that mud hole and said "not today, I would have drove around it anyway. There was a good size flock of some kind of big white birds in the distance, in a harvested corn field. I think snow geese , but not sure.
In Iowa city I have a couple ways to get where I go. My favorite is right thru downtown and the universty of Iowa campus. The original capitol of Iowa was Iowa city. The capitol of iowa moved to des moines later, after settlement took hold in the western part of the state. The old capitol building is still there in downtown Iowa city.
So, I know this is a lot of pictures, hopefully not too much. I probably posted a third of what I took
