My XLT is on its way finally. Supposed to be here around the first week in September. What extra $ should I keep an eye out for. I never get extended warranty. They said they had to go over it once it arrives. How true is that?
Thanks for all your help through this last year. 😁

Did you get a signed purchase agreement when you ordered stating no dealer add-ons and the exact price they will charge you? Make sure they give you price protection to the price when you ordered it, not the extra $500 price increase on the sticker. They aren't mandated that they have to protect it but Ford says honest dealers will.

How long did you wait from Built to Shipped? On my 2022, it was less than a week. On my 2023 I'm in week two..... and counting.

Congrats! The wait is almost over. It took about 10-11 days for mine to arrive at the drop lot and another handful of days to arrive at the dealer on the car hauler truck. after I got notified it had been shipped on the rail car.

As for the pre-delivery inspection at the dealer they generally just give it a once over, wash it up, lower the tire pressure to the recommended (they over-infalte for shipping) and remove all the plastic and stuff off the seats and whatever else.

In my case I work right next to the dealership. I happened to be walking out to go home and saw mine being unloaded off the truck so that was cool to see. I walked over and checked it out.

Check out some of the railroad tracking info on the forums. I found that part pretty interesting to track its progress.

It’s was almost simultaneously done. Just a couple of days from build to shipped. That was Monday. It’s not supposed to be here until after Labor Day.

Update: got ahold of my dealer and explained that.... hey it's been 2 weeks since it was built...and I had my 2022 in 10 days... From build to sitting in my drive way.... So can you find out what the issue is.... And yes I understand to get to Tucson they leave Hermosillo go North to Phoenix on a rail car then are transported back to Tucson.... Anyway the dealer was actually helpful.... He emailed me some official Ford thing that looked like it was produced on software from the 1990s... Expected delivery August 24th. Interesting thing is... Website says it was born on August 1st, official 1990s software print out says August 3rd.

Meanwhile my FX/4 sits in Pre-Shipment for 2 weeks in the hot Mexican desert collecting dust with 10 more days to go until the plant fires back up. :ROFLMAO: The luck of the Irish does not apply to me today. LOL.

Mine was built on 8/5 and shipped 8/10.
My dealer gave me the railcar number and I called CSX today to get status. The info I got was not helpful though as it said the railcar was “released by owner” in Ontario 6/20/23 and no other details. Strange indeed. Hopefully it will update soon. Dealer said 4-6 weeks and mentioned Ford gave an ETA in Portland, Or. 9/8 but said it’s rarely accurate.

Your dealer should know exactly where the railcar is, they have a mapping system showing where it is.

Thanks, I know he can check VinView but I’m not too worried about it yet. If I can’t get any updates from CSX over the next couple weeks I will hit him up again. It’s only been a day.

From my 30+ years of Ford knowledge with my friends and family employees, sometimes AFTER a vehicle is built, they discover some minor issue on the assembly line. First task is to fix the problem on the line so they don't make more cars that need work. Second task is to examine cars built but not shipped, and then move them to the back lot where they fix them prior to shipping. This latter deal can take hours, days or weeks depending on what the issue might be. These are not recall issues, but could be something as simple as adjusting a torque setting, or the amount of adhesive applied to a trim piece.

When I got a Taurus SHO some years ago, we knew it was manufactured but was sitting at the plant in Chicago. Thankfully we knew someone there who discovered that that there were 13 "campaigns" on the car that had to be addressed before shipping. Our friend was well connected, had someone fetch the SHO from the back 40, do the campaigns, and ship the car within 24 hours. I'm sure had we not relied on friends it would have taken some weeks to complete.

If your car is the first car built after the train leaves, it's also some time to fill up the next load!
