I spent my Labor Day holiday last week getting to make the switch from my 2020 Jeep Compass Latitude FWD. Was able to find a 2024 XLT AWD. When I first saw them when they first came out I liked the Area 51 color and later the Azure Gray Metallic that came out. I really started looking around just a couple of months ago and was ready to settle for either Silver or Carbonized Gray instead. I happened upon this one looking at my local dealer. Apparently it had not been there very long when I got to look at it and eventually get it. I have not been disappointed in how it drives and feel it is a lot better than what I had previously.

Hello and welcome to MTC. Congratulations on your new Maverick.
I have not been disappointed in how it drives and feel it is a lot better than what I had previously.
I understand they are a sweet ride. Hope you continue to enjoy it for many years.

Sweet ride! As an FX4 owner, I most surely approve. The ride quality is far superior to anything I've ever had. The best attribute of the Maverick, especially with the FX4 package, is that it has the comfort of a car with the added practicality of a pickup. The best of both worlds. I mention the FX4 package in particular because the off-road tuned suspension results in a softer and cushier ride than non-FX4 Mavericks. Plus, you get smaller wheels with thicker sidewall tires for that added bump absorption. Most road undulations that people swerve around I can confidently drive over in this. It's that good. Congrats on your new Maverick. You're gonna love it!

? What's the suspension difference, fx4 vs a non fx4 AWD?
The only difference I've seen documented is mono-tube shocks in the rear on the FX4 vs the standard twin-tube shocks.

?Smaller wheels also?
I'm not sure about that one. The only way to get 18" wheels for 2024 was to order the Black Appearance Package. You got 17" wheels with all other configurations. I'm not familiar with what the options were in 2022-23.

I like the ride of my FX4 a lot, but I wouldn't describe it as car-like.

Welcome to the family, I also have an Azure Gray Maverick and lover the color more and more everyday. I also came from a 2020 Jeep Compass to Maverick. Original went to an XL Hot Pepper Red Hybrid in January and then about a month ago traded in on a Lariat in Azure Gray and even more happier with the upgraded Maverick. I am sure you will love yours just as much.

At least compared to non-FX4 Mavericks. Just an inch smaller. The Lariats came standard with 18-inch wheels from 22-24 but for 25 they made them an inch bigger at 19s. If you get the FX4, you get 17-inch wheels with the bigger and more aggressive all-terrain tires with thicker sidewall.

The Lariats came standard with 18-inch wheels from 22-24 but with the FX4 package added, they go down to 17-inch with the all-terrain tires and added sidewall. The smaller the wheels and thicker the sidewall, the better the ride. For 25 they added an inch at 19s. I'm still convinced the ride is car-like. It's just as comfortable as a Toyota Camry or Kia K5.

Fx4 here . about the same ride as 2014 Camry 28k miles . just put Michelin defenders on Camry so may be better ride. Tires aged out on Camry . wife's car so better to be safe than sorry . Camry always garaged until Mav came in approximately in 11/21 . Mav now has garage with motorcycle .

I failed to consider trim level, and my comments were based solely on the XLT. Only BAP has 18" wheels on XLT, but has the same profile tire, so there shouldn't be much difference in sidewall compliance.

My FX4 is more stiffly sprung and damped than any car I've owned, all Fords. It has more weight to the steering as well, but it rides and handles better than any body on frame truck I've owned.

Ah, gotcha. The more weighted steering feel is a positive in my book. Definitely allows for a connected feel. Doesn't handle half bad either. There is some notable body lean but that's to be expected with a crossover-based pickup.

Well, you weren’t wrong. OP has an XLT, not a Lariat. Without BAP, it was coming with 17” wheels, regardless.
