Finally fixed my rattling dash!

My dash rattles like a bunch of tiny gnomes are mining at the end of the long dash. I'll try the straws.

Picked mine up at dealership in the beginning of Feb... 3 weeks into having it I could hear the dash/windshield rattle but only when going over a bump... Then about a week and a half to two weeks later it just disappeared on its own.... Man I'll tell u I was pretty happy.. Cuz it was annoying!!!

Don't worry, it'll be back once it gets cold.

I finally isolated my dash rattle and fixed it, without tools in less than 1 minute. And it cost absolutely nothing!

Now that I know how to do it, I'm going to get more straws.

Really though, it will inform now where I put extra foam pieces between the dash and the windshield to create a little bit of a binding effect.

Please remove the glovebox, and photograph the straws from the underside, please.

The windshield rattle I had was fixed by "re-adjusting" the windshield alignment post...I think they just removed it.

Anyways, when the tech was test driving after that repair, he noticed a dash rattle I had not heard, probably because of my fixation on the windshield rattle. He stated the wiring harness behind the dash was unsecured.

Secured and now she is totally quiet.

Reminds me of when I had to wedge a matchbook between the top of the 8 track tape & the tape door so it played one track at a time & not 2, yes I am that old.

Yes, my Lariat pictured to the left has a vibration when going over uneven surfaces. It sounds like it is coming straight ahead of the steering column so I will try the straw fix. Also seems to be a vibration from the steering column. Dealer said they would need it for four days. I can't be without a truck that long. So I will try the straw. Thanks for the tip!

Don't forget to calibrate the straw first!

Glad you were successful. I’ll give it a try. But what a pitiful exposure to Ford’s lack of fixing a Maverick issue that’s been going on for months.
