Our 2011 Edge just passed 200,000 miles and has been having some odd issues that we can't nail down so it seemed like a good time. I have been looking at Mavericks for a while, but the used prices were higher than what new was and I couldn't find a new one that I liked. I thought about ordering one, but kept putting it off to see what happened with the pricing.

Two weeks ago, I went on the Ford site and built what I would settle for, not everything I wanted, and checked the box to have a dealer reach out to me. One did last week and said he had seven on the lot, but they were all Eco Lariats and I really wanted a Hybrid XLT. (My wife and I had decided on a Hybrid XLT, Atlas Blue, with a tow hitch for a trailer I already have. Lux package would be nice, but not a must have.) While talking with the dealer on the phone, he mentioned that someone had ordered a HPR XLT, Hybrid, with the Lux, BAP, and Co-Pilot 360, but had decided to take one of the Lariats on the lot that he could drive home that day. The order date was 2/22/24 and he was getting tired of waiting. I've seen a lot of videos and read a lot of articles, but I really wanted to sit in one and see for myself. We went to the lot, test drove one and loved it. It's not a fully decked out F150 or anything but it sure beats the heck out of my '92 S-10, with no air or power-anything.

He really wanted to get us in one of the Lariats, but for $3000 less we decided to wait for the abandoned Hybrid. It's scheduled to be built the week of September 2nd, and we are expecting to get it in early- to mid-October. Gotta admit, I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas to see if Santa brings me the GI Joe Pit headquarters I wanted.

I hope it comes sooner than later! The GI Joe mobile command center is still one of the best gifts I’ve ever received.

XLT Hybrid in the house! It's amazing to think my MSRP in Nov 2021 was only 28k, it would be almost 33k today. Your MSRP should be around 35.4k but that is going to be a great looking ride.

I gave Maverick a good hand wash this eve and really cleaned the interior with a blower and vacuum. I didn't clean the bed, haha. 23,000 miles and at home dealer mobile service oil change this week. I'm lovin' this in many ways.

Hopefully, you've researched the Dealer and it's not one that adds on all sorts of unnecessary dealer-installed options. Most of those are not worth the added cost. Look at other new cars on the lot. If most have dealer-added options, ask your sales person about them in detail.

Good luck!

I actually went to a dealer a county over to try to avoid this. They had tool bags and first aid kits in a couple that I looked at, but they were also from another dealer to try to get a couple on the lot. I have the original order that was placed, and it doesn't show any dealer options, but I'll have to wait and see what they try to push. They are a small rural dealer so I am hopeful.

The sales person will play nice and just add their normal fees. It's when they send you back to talk to the finance guy that things get interesting. The guy wants to sell you maintenance plans and ext. warranties and loans. The guy kinda cried poor too and I'm a sucker.

You will not have this issue, but for me I was only in for $27,419 all-in, out the door. I absolutely felt like I was stealing it, so I caved on a 5 year 60k maint. plan, which was a mistake. If you do get one, make sure it's a 10k interval, mine is 7500 miles.

When I decided to look for one, and decided on the XLT Hybrid in Red Pepper, my dealer had none. They did have the blue one in the picture. The mother of my salesman had ordered it, and decided not to take it. I drove it. I liked it, I bought it. I have made it my own with a few additions. So far, so good at just short of 1000 miles. Best of luck to you in getting what you want.
