Attached are Why and What Ford needs to do for EPA approval for OKTB.

The EPA PDF titled "overviewconfirmatorytestingscript_updated.pdf" is the source of this information and attached to this post.

All this info and charts are above my pay grade to understand, but the hybrid engine is so close to the Ford Escape and Bronco Sport engines it boggles my mind that Ford and the EPA aren’t on the same page with an efficient EPA approval.

Opinions are like @ssholes, everybody has one.
Sure Ford did a good amount of consumer focus group on both models (2.5 and 2.0) way early on. Even if they researched a much smaller buyer interest in a hybrid, they would still want a smaller pool of buyers to take delivery ASAP since 95% are at MSRP or higher.

No hybrid, no sale to me. I can keep driving my Sport Trac. The vehicle size and design is like a Maverick prototype. It also has on demand 4WD, rear audio and air conditioning controls, a power rear window, cruise control, and a slightly larger bed. The hybrid is the only real motivation for me. In many other ways the Maverick is a downgrade for me.

How does the EPA select which vehicles it will test it's self? Is it random?
Since some hybrid buyers have vin# ford must think the EPA will finish their work soon.

How do we know that the EPA wasn't given a pre-mass production build of the current eCVT in May? Remember, this was only a month before the factory was retooled for mass production. Surely the first one off the assembly line wouldn't be the first one ever built.
I went back though the news articles and forum post and found the info on the eCVT change out, and the fact that they retooled the eCVT in late July (29 July) and at the time that they retooled the assembly line of the eCVT it was 4 weeks after the original data was given to the EPA on the Hybrids.
I'm not sure what you are saying here.
-- Are you saying they changed the design of the eCVT in late July?
-- Or just that they retooled the assembly line in late July? (Or both?)

Maybe it would help if you posted links to the articles and forum posts you went back and found.

Looking at all those charts and numbers.....Looks like 40 MPG on the conservative side. Let's go. Roll them out and sell them.

It is amazing to me that they only run the ac in one specific test. I'm a Texan, AC all the time!
I have my climate control set on auto all the time, except when I'm using defrost. I set the temp, and let the car figure out the rest, and I would assume the a/c compressor would be on most of the time.

No one is getting a 20 grand Mav anytime soon...
Well, with the 1495 delivery fee, nobody was ever getting one in the first place.

It'll happen when it happens. Ain't no use getting bothered over it because there's not a damn thing I can do about it. I've got enough things to deal with that I can control. This isn't one of them.

It's only one litmus test cycle, but the AC litmus test gets the efficiency delta between AC and Non-AC driving. All of the 5 cycles get thrown into a big algorithm to spit out the final CTY/HWY/TOT MPGs.

Yes, just like I said. Not an electric vehicle (that is electric) and not a plug in hybrid (because it has no plug.
Saying it twice doesn’t make it more correct. A Hybrid is an electric vehicle. PERIOD.

So, could we also say "A Hybrid is a gas-powered vehicle. PERIOD."?

It seems like that would be confusing...
