Curious if this is how you guys removed the top nut off the rear strut to replace the bumpstop

or Im doing it wrong :whew:

I order a carpi 13 mm offset box end wrench and had to grind it down to fit down in there then use locking pliers to hold the shaft from spinning to remove the top nut

I searched even watched some how to videos an no one mentions or shows this step :cautious:

Wondering if people just skip this step altogether haha

this and reinstalling the front sway bar endlink into the front strut were the only things that took me some extra time to figure out.

For those in the future reading/searching to reinstall the front endlink bolt in the strut assembly then turn the wheel and with a jack lift up the suspension till the endlink lines up.

Not sure if I understand the question correctly but usually the end of the shock rod has a hex in it so you can use an Allen key to stop the rod from turning while you tighten or loosen the nut

Otherwise you can tighten 2 nuts against each other above the nut and use them to hold the rod from spinning

Or use a grinder to grind 2 flats on the end of the rod, then you can use a wrench to hold it ...

You don't use wrenches. No reason to hold the shaft. Hit it with an air impact . Spins right off. Easy peasy.

^ This. I haven't looked specifically at the Maverick rear shocks (not struts), but that's how most modern Fords are. It's the same for a lot of sway bar end links too. An impact works too if you have one.

If you skip this step, how would you replace the bump stop?
