Easiest way to disconnect the wire to the power tailgate lock?

Not laughing, just a little confused. As noted above, check in the settings, there might be a way to disable it. Otherwise, pull the plug.

Unless you have a bed cover I guess the locking tailgate is kinda useless.

An unlocked tailgate can be stolen in 10 seconds and are very expensive to replace. That's what sold me on the xlt.

So I did find out the doors unlock on the first push of the button and then you push it again and the tailgate unlocks.yes I meant door locks not window .was definitely my mistake but I just have no use for a locking tail gate

Locking it allows it to remain attached to the truck! If tailgate is unlocked it can be lifted out of hinge UNLESS you have a hinge lock attached (just similar to hose clamp that has special head to prevent easily removing tailgate. This anti theft was a $40 option dealer adds on)! Yes I bought one. In Texas there are people that have a need to replace a tailgate. One damaged tailgate has started "musical tailgate syndrome". I have been known to stamp my vin number onto my tailgate. (Allows one who finds his tailgate in a pawnshop or elsewhere to reclaim his stolen property)!

I definitely understand why a locking tailgate is good for a lot of people but I’m just not one of them.all I’m going to do is disconnect the wire to it.and I learned a lot about the remote I didn’t know.us old folks don’t learn all this new technology very fast

There is a setting in the menu that unlocks all with one press. Best thing I've found so far.

Mine unlocks All doors on first press, but I set that in the Menu.

Southern California has a huge problem with it. I caught someone trying to steal line from an s10 a few years back

But reverse. I'd like to lock it semi-permanently. So I guess lock it, then pull the wire? Is that doable?

oh oh... great idea forming.... put in a "valet" switch under the seat???
